I really appreciate you getting this content out for people to actually be informed on their car. (Even though many Corolla owners won't even think about these kind of things ever). Again, thanks a lot for taking your time and teaching people some very good information

You have a very thorough and well filmed video. I've done this job on Tundra, Camry, 4Runner and will do on my 2023 Tacoma. I used a scanner to insure proper ATF fill level from temperature displayed by onboard computer. Unfortunately the method you suggest is flawed unless you can verify the fluid level is at factory spec. If someone made a mistake in the fluid level previously, you are just replicating the same error. I believe using the jumper wire is the way to go for accuracy if you don't have a scan tool. But as you stated, failure to do this properly and carefully could result in catastrophic damage to electronic system.

Excellent video!! Can’t wait for part 2 and actually see you do a drain and fill. I totally agree with you on the change intervals and the labeling of the fluid. Tons of these cars on the road now and I can imagine a lot of them have never had the fluid drained. I plan on looking for a used Corolla and want to know how to do this. Thanks.

Can you change the gear oil fluid when the engine just stop?
@Woodra_YT3 ай бұрын
If your dealership changed your transmission fluid once before you started doing it at 113,000 miles, how many times have you done the drain and refill yourself? Was it a total of six times? And what was the interval between each fill-did you wait a week of driving or reach a certain mileage before doing the next one?
@Chorizomicks4 жыл бұрын
1: if you are doing a measure what comes out and put same amount in, you got take into consideration whether a: any leak in your pan? B: did the previous dealer put the right amount of fluid? 2: by following the connect pin 4 & 13 * diagram on the internet* u can really determine the right temperature of the transmission when it’s good for fluid adjustment. If you somehow mess that up and cannot follow simple instructions as such, you should not be working on your car in the first place. Fyi: I have done 2 drain and fills in my car and I also dropped the pan and changed the filter of it. One thing I learned after that ordeal, if you drain n fill your CVt early and often, your fluid and your filter should be clean AF. I was able to drain 5 qts of fluid though when I dropped the pan somehow. I also used the Aisin fluid on rockauto. Pro Tip: change your drain plug gasket and fill plug gasket every time you do a drain and fill. Torque the drain plug to 30 ft lbs, and fill plug to 36 ft lbs.

I would probably change my filter again after Atleast 100k miles (I’m at 52k miles now) so maybe around 150k miles. In my opinion, this is the weakest part of our cars and the fluid is hella cheap. JUST MAKE SURE the vehicle is on right temperature (with the pin 4&13) and LEVELED as possible. I use a quick jack and I jack the Frame of the vehicle so that it is leveled. Sometimes my garage floor isn’t leveled.

Joseph Juguilon kindly share the required temp to get the right fluid level.. can i used infrared thermometer to get the level done?
@Chorizomicks4 жыл бұрын
Noli Untalan if u use a IR temp, it will be off and inaccurate. Just do the connect 4&13 port on the obd. Or have techstream :)

Was the OE filter a metal mesh type that doesn't have any filter media? Also, which part/brand did you use for the replacement filter?

I wonder what if I decided to drop the pain and change the transmission filter and clean the magnet. Would that drain and fill also 2 quarts or may be 2.2 quarts to include the oil inside the transmission filter. I cannot level the car and don't plan to get a scan tool just because of this task. Thanks for the video.

Aisin doesn't make oil either, right? it is probably Edemitsu, Eneos, or even S.Korean Kixx

Great videos this one and part 2, How did the aisin fluid work out now that it has been a year in the car ? If the transmission was built by aisin it definetly looks like the oem fluid is just rebranded aisin fluid. looking at doing about 6x drain and fill on a corolla I just got my wife with 83k on it. Im going to be sending in the transmission fluid to blackstone labs to see how bad it really is at that point.

I prefer to do the drain and fill 2 quarts in every 13,000 miles after the first 26,000 miles than to wait 100,000 miles cvt fluid changing.

Your only getting 2qts your not removing the inter bolt hidden up inside the drain hole- maybe a 6Mm Allen wrench- It’s plastic - so remove & install it by hand only! Have a great day!

I totally disagree the darker of the fluid is definitely an end result of its loss of protection the darker the fluid the worse it is there is no dispute that’s why new fluid looks like an old fluid looks dark and old fluid destroys engines new fluid doesn’t
@bruceforsman4812 Жыл бұрын
you CAN change it all at once they call it a flush, a machine sucks it out while replacing it simultaneously all fluid is replaced at once. I would do a drain at 50k and flush at 100k.

Please, NEVER WAIT 10K TO CHANGE YOUR OIL -- YOU'LL BE SORRY IF YOU DO. CHANGE, AT MINIMUM, EVERY 5K OR SOONER (AT LEAST FOLKS). I'VE SEEN ENGINES COMPLETELY PULLED APART AFTER THE "EVERY 10K MILE OIL CHANGE WAS DONE) AND THE SIDE WALL OF THE PISTON CHAMBERS WERE GOUGHED AND THE BOTTOM OIL RING ON THE PISTONS WERE FROZON SHUT -- NO GOOD. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, USE A GOOD OIL LIKE 0W-20 MOBILE ONE SYNTHETIC AND AN ORIGIANAL OEM TOYOTA FILTER ELEMENT AND YOUR GOOD TO GO. PSONALLY, i HAVE DONE MINE EVERY 2K AND MY ENGINE 'S INTERNALS ARE SPOTLESS, AND THE CAR CONSUMES 0 OIL. CONVERSELY, IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR, THEN, OF COURSE, DO WHAT YOU WILL. P.S., OLD OIL, WHEN RECYCLED AT A REPUTABLE FACILITY, EVEN A WALMART, RECYCLES THAT OLD OIL. SO FOR ALL TREE-HUGGERS OUT THERE, TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND RELAX, IT'S ALL GOOD. I HOPE THIS ADVICE HELPS.
