Yeah, I started watching, what , ten years ago, when you guys were racing cars that could be built in a garage on a budget! Enjoyed the hell out of the show back then, not so much NPK!! Lots of money being spent. I know Joe didn’t have a big team to help him with his car, did most by himself or with the help of friends! Hang in there Joe !

The "some people never played sports growing up" thing goes even a little further - a lot of people that get into drag racing as an adult do it as a hobby, do it for fun. Some of them get a lot of money and are really into their hobby, next thing you know they're racing in NPK. And that's when you see a LOOOOT of feelings get hurt, as some people just aren't prepared for how hard others will go, not just for a grip of cash, but just out of the desire to compete. Can't have a 'hobby' attitude when you get into serious, big money racing. Anyway, love the change - having one team that can put all of their resources behind one driver better than any other team was getting pretty damn old. It's not like NPK was supposed to be a "team" race to begin with, but the 405 forced everyone's hand on that. You aren't going to be able to stop people from working together, so might as well dictate that to some degree. I'd prefer everyone racing for themselves in NPK, teams influencing the season points battle is frustrating since it essentially limits the odds of those not on a good team, but that just isn't going to happen as long as multiple 405ers are running(and NOLA too I'm sure, they were good at not working together a while ago but they've changed that LOL). So it's a solid improvement from the fan's side, although I'm sure it sucks for a lot of drivers lol. Not into the reserve pool drama nonsense - but "reality TV", I guess they're just always going to do this kinda crap. Frankly that's gotta be pretty hard on anyone not in the top of the series, I don't even know how you would budget for the season when it's a crap shoot whether or not you're racing week to week. Not a cool move from the producers.

I haven't got to see how it all played out to the finals at the end of the season. From the few rumblings that I do hear a big part of what you talked about came to pass. It's people, there's money involved and not much accountability. Unfortunately like you said most folks don't know or understand team mentality and thinking. This goes on in the everyday work a day world too. It's not a generational thing either because I see it in every age group. Oh well. On to big and better. It would be nice if the powers that be learned some lessons in humanity, such as being good sportsman, not fostering drama because that mess is going to happen any way.

Personally I hate this "team" racing. I want 405 all day long. It doesn't mean I hate or dislike the other racers. I pray that NOBODY wrecks or gets hurt. I have a SLIVER (very small) of understanding of what it takes to race with the 20+ years my family bracket raced. My respect and admiration is for all of the racers regardless if they are on the original 405 show, NPK , Mega Cash Days (WTG Ryan!!!), America's list or a local track racer. Memphis rubs me the wrong way but I respect them too. I just choose not to watch that show. Hopefully this team thing goes away. I don't plan on watching NPK this year. That is the only way to bring about a change unfortunately. Money talks and bull walks. I have love for all y'all and because of this I speak about my savior Jesus. If Discovery or Pilgrim or whoever insisted on this "team draft" idea, I think they should have done the event and points format differently. Friday night- Team Attack. 2 cars from each team chosen by chip draw. 10 points per round that determines the team championship at the end of the season. Saturday- 32 car invitational. Points kept completely separate from the team points, going toward the individual championship. That would make the whole deal much easier to follow for the casual viewer. I don't understand the points system at all for this season yet. I really hope they explain it well when it airs. If it's too complicated, I hope it doesn't turn off the casual viewer. To paraphrase Murder Nova in the most recent season of the OG show "Make NPK simple again".

I met you in Kentucky but that’s niether here or there you and a few more was some of the more down to earth people I’ve met there at npk. But I’ve raced for 25 years in small tire street races and tracks. When people forget where they come from and are rude to fans it’s a problem I never had it happen to me cause I know a lot of people but I seen a kid that had a shirt and tried to get one of the og”s to sign it and he wouldn’t cause it was someone else’s logo and the kid didn’t buy merch at his tent. I thought that was awful but it is what it is.

Math is simple... $40,000 is up for grabs every week and then we have the great 8 overall winner that gets $100,000 for coming out on top for the season and finally the TEAM of 5 gets to split $200,000 which comes to $40,000.00 for each driver on the team so the question is, who cares about the team money pot when ONE driver can win $40,000 every week and as a bonus he or she also wins $100,000.00 as a bonus for winning the great 8 for being top dog for the season. It only matters to those that can't win the great 8 and can't win the individual weekly races...then that person is definitely going to sweat about which TEAM they're on. 🤔

I understand what you are saying, but a captain would be foolish to take someone off their team who is a consistent winner. I don't think that any car/driver/team that is in the pool at that point are going to be Game Changers when it comes to the last couple of races. I think that there will be some people who get 'butt hurt' if they are struggling to win, or hurt their car so bad that they have to "start over / figure it out", and swapped out to the pool. I could put up with a lot of Kye's or Disco Dean's nonsense if they're showing everyone a gap. We Want to win with our friends, but when you get invited onto a great team, Most people look at it as an opportunity. *Essentially, they have turned the competition into a business, where emotions get pulled out of it, and the (tough) decisions are based on success.

What's the real story? The 200K is nothing when spilt up between 5 (40k per person) when every car has Multiple 100K engines and multiple 150k Car's. The Contract $$ has to be outrageous amount if not this sport is not sustainable for 40 driver's.

Dom you are one of my favorites on Street Outlaws just because you’re a down to earth cool guy. I love NPK but I quit watching it last season for 2 reasons. First is all the drama that came about with the “teams”. It seemed to me it started on the Americas fastest list show & spread to NPK. Second is Discovery raised their subscription price substantially so I said bye bye. As I’ve turned to YT for my only “TV” viewing pleasure, I have realized that exactly why Chief left Discovery & Street Outlaws, even though it’s only a thing because of him. Mainstream TV has a way of ruining a good thing. Please think about changing your channel around closer to a format similar to Cleetus McFarland & build your own team. Get into drag & drives. Change everything for yourself & family into something positive. Leave that NPK BS behind. Sir you need to rethink your racing career & make some changes before the negativity eats you up. You have a good supportive family so I’d hate to see that happen to you.

I know it is a TV show but I think this format sucks. They, the producers/ show creators really screwed over you and others this year because they wanted to try an experiment. The NPK thing is a big way to get the racers and show fans closer together but the cars are getting well away from what most of us old fans can relate to and started watching at the beginning.

The character flaws and the flaws in how they enforce the rules equally have been OBVIOUS for a few seasons. Every new car seems to be inspected with a different rule book. I saw no altered wheelbase but know for a fact a certain camaro is longer than stock...etc.

The cars are allowed to have different wheelbase from stock +/- 3". As far as the look of the car it's down to the producers rather than set rules at the end of the day.
