I love the animation! I especially loved when the little bacteria riding the other bacteria-with a war cry-charged bravely into battle. Epic! A great dramatization of the ceaseless work our body does to protect us against all the shit we fill ourselves with.

Bravo! Encore!! A+++ So why are people silent on the likes? Possibly because we still don't want to know that we have 17 trillion creepy crawly invisible things all over us? Oh well, medicine has not always been "tasty". And this piece presents an unsavory subject in just the right amount of comic realism. PS: We are working on a "polymicrobial bacteriostat" an antibiotic that equally stops all species of bacteria from growing, even superbugs, and does this across the board according to their species. Thus, the microbiome is preserved without killing all of anything and the bad bugs are capped from growing into infection. So far so good. As we complete our research we will need some "infotainment" as the information cannot be understood without an awareness of the details to set up the story. John Matlick
@martywilsonlife5 жыл бұрын
John, how are you doing these days? I just found out about this video... it explains a great deal. When you say 'we' as in completing 'our' research, do you mean you are a microbiologist or?? I appreciate your comment and hope you're still hanging around KZbin.
@rigpod48213 ай бұрын
@@martywilsonlifeno, he's not. He's just wanting to insinuate that he is for the attention. Whatever he used to do (doubt very much that it was microbiology), he's long since retired now.

It is closer to 3X as many bacteria as our cells. A student of mine showed me the original source where the authors suggested it MIGHT be 10x. This became known by us scientists and teachers as fact. More recent data suggest their numbers are much lower.

The 100,000,000,000,000 microbial cells and 10,000,000,000,000 human cells fun fact is a very loose estimate, I heard somewhere that it was more like 35,000,000,000,000 human cells and 40,000,000,000,000 microbe cells (except for after you pooped).

The microbiome will change the way we treat disease and most important PREVENT disease. Since this video came out research has revealed that the health of our microbiome can help with weight loss, energy and overall health. It's fascinating! It has inspired me to write a book. Eliminating toxins and eating real, wholesome foods can keep your microbiome healthy.
