Cruel one convinced you in his stillness In a dream, safe and harmless Unknown to you Wolf in sheep's clothing Hand over mouth His secrets you're holding I can see you and the ache you're hiding I'm here you know I'll always remind you Lonely one, I always knew The future tells a hazel view Gemstone, like polish and acetone For you are my sister sewn I know you like the drive home Breath deep, the knower's perspective You'll see how the rest of this is undeniable Hold out for June, it brings new season Vision is clear, your mind revealing Pressing the flower in the page Forever kept, a memory made Now you're so sure, you're always leading All the same words now bring new meaning I can hear you and I know you're singing "I'm here you know I'll always remind you." Lovely one Four leaf luck Skilled hands built you up Hold out for June, it brings new season Vision is clear, your mind revealing Pressing the flower in the page Forever kept, a memory made Now you're so sure, you're always leading All the same words now bring new meaning I can hear you and I know you're singing "I'm here you know I'll always remind you." This is incredible. I've been listening to this album over and over, such a bookend to charmer and yet so sad in a new way. I can only listen to it acoustically, and it is truly one of their best albums they've ever made when they play it acoustic I think. Nice. Reminds me of early 90's emo rock.
@danman66696 жыл бұрын
Do you mean early 2000s? Other than Sunny Day Real Estate, I don't remember any other emo bands back then and I didn't know about them until many years later, since grunge music (and nu-metal to an extent because of KoRn) ruled the early '90s. The early 2000s was when emo was massively popular.
@thekredyard75776 жыл бұрын
Jawbreaker. Get Up Kids Saves the Day. Jimmy Eat World. American Football to name a few
@danman66696 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you're right. However, American Football didn't start until 1997, so they aren't early '90s. The rest are good, though. I guess what I meant by my question was just clarification. If he meant early '90s, then okay. I just wanted to verify that he didn't mean early 2000s instead, since emo wasn't as well known in the '90s as it was in the 2000s and I wanted to make sure he didn't make a mistake. In the '90s all I remember was grunge, nu-metal, and pop punk. I didn't know any of those bands you mentioned until much later when emo became more mainstream. Thanks for the list, though.

Why is it that every time tiny desk puts on an artist with a "mainstream" sound 80 percent of the comments are just trashing the artist and NPR? I mean if you guys want to listen to death metal polka music or death grips that's fine. However, just because an artist/band sounds more "mainstream" doesn't mean they are less talented or not worth listening too. I think the tiny desk is a fantastic program and just because you don't like the acts they have on due to their "mainstream" sound shouldn't really be an excuse to get in the comments and just trash NPR and everyone else who enjoys this kinda music. It's such a counterproductive stance to have.
@axln17237 жыл бұрын
thetennispro5 couldn't have said it better if i tried
@Nicole-px3ll7 жыл бұрын
Mainstream means generic music anyone can listen to by turning on the radio. To many people, mainstream DOES mean they are less talented and not worth listening to. Compare this performance to the Penguin Club performance. The penguin club performance was filled with complex music and many musicians working together to create something beautiful. This performance contained songs that had simple single-voice melodies, over a couple chords repeated, with constant 3rd harmonies. BORING Aside from that, this is what the comment section is for. Stop telling other people what to think. i.e. fuck off.
@AlexSuperTramp-7 жыл бұрын

stop telling people not to tell people what to think. those people are inured to your concern. now go wash the dog...
@thetennispro57 жыл бұрын
Nick Knuckle At no point in my comment did I tell anyone what to think. You don't have to like the music that NPR has on here. Music is subjective as an art form and as a result not everyone is going to like every type of music. Admittedly, I don't enjoy every artist that's featured on this channel. That being said, I don't go into the comment section and trash the artist and the people who enjoy said artist. Like I said in my original post, that kinda comment is just really counterproductive and makes people who make those comments come off as music snobs that can't appreciate anything that's not music in 4/4 time with a basic chord structure. When last I checked some of the most influential and respected artists of all time (Dylan, The Beatles, Nirvana) weren't making music with polyrhythms in 6/8 time.
