NR101 & NR72 Lead 2288 The Overland Recovery Transfer 31/12/23

Hello everyone.
The last day of 2023 was a very interesting one when it came to South Australian rail action, starting off badly with a terrible incident involving a PN intermodal and a truck, but also with another SCT intermodal crapping itself at Petwood. Because of the occurrence, 1AM8 The Overland was left stuck at Mt. Barker Junction and was delayed by a couple hours. NR72 and NR101 were originally sent up to rescue 7MP9 and were seen coupled together at Petwood, but due to complications with coupling and SCT sending up their own rescue locos, NR72 and NR101 went back to Mt. Barker Junction and coupled to the rear of the 10 carriage Overland. The lead loco NR68 was left on the front of the train while the other two stayed on the back. 7MP9 came soon after that with six locos, but I didn't capture that as it was very close behind the transfer. In this video, we see the Overland transfer at Belair and at Unley Park station, with the crew being very friendly with the horn (thanks guys).

The reason 7MP9 had stopped in the first place had nothing to do with the locos that were on it

I would love to go on The Overland one day, although it’s quite expensive. I would also like AN to be revived, because the Ghan and Indian Pacific are now unusable as a way to get from Adelaide to Sydney, Darwin, Alice Springs or Perth due to the RIDICULOUS prices.

Hi PTG 👋 I really enjoyed this video and your well written and informative description. You mentioned that some of your videos have not performed well and I am wondering if it has something to do with KZbin behaving badly. I appreciate the time and effort you put into producing a video and I can't think of any other reason for poor performance.

Thanks John! One of my friends said that when I uploaded the grain train video, that they didn't get a notification for it. I know youtube is doing alot of weird changes at the moment, so it maybe just a bug while they do some stuff.
