wholly concur, though we in the Pacific Northwest had fleeting chances to ever see them - saw them for the first time in 1985 and they were blissfully perfect. Saw them again a few years later and they were less so. I believe the quote I remember about Tommy is that Terry told him to, "just hit the snare as hard as you can and don't worry about the rest" of which I can attest to after seeing them that first time ...hardest snare drum hitter in the business

What I like about this recording of the great combo is the way Joey’s bass slaps like it would on many occasions. That cat could play. 😊

I want to see a video of Terry Adams playing one of those public pianos at say an airport. Most people (unfortunately) wouldn't recognize him. They'd think, who is that crazy man beating and slapping at that piano? Then after a couple of minutes, they'd realize, oh he can really play!

I saw The Terry Adams R&R Quartet (before he converted the name back to NRBQ) once and I blurted out "play Over Your Head" and it turns out that song wasn't written by Terry, and he got very upset, and sulky from then on. He played like two more songs and then without a word just left the stage and the show was over. It really pissed him off, but how the hell was I supposed to know it wasn't his song, he sang it, so I thought it was his creation. We met him after the show and he was sort of an aloof A hole all the way, just moody and arrogant, such a shame. The first thing he said was "no one is buying my CD's" so I told him that with all the money I'd spent on tickets, gas, dinner, and pot, that he owed me $25 and he could pay up this very moment. He didn't like that, but if he'd mouthed off anymore I was going to kick his scrawny ass all over the bar, I think he sensed my unbridled anger at that point and he scooted off, smart move on his part. It's hard to sing and play with broken fingers and no teeth, which is the way he was headed. He's very lucky to be honest, I don't take shit from pushy people, doesn't matter who you think you are, pain is the great equalizer. He was close, but survived to play another night.

you are the A hole, he isn't required to give you that touchy feely vibe. because the short you have a great story to tell. I saw Jerry Lee Lewis in '85 @ the palomino club in Columbia SC. he got pissed off & kicked his piano bench after 40 mins & left. get over your anger issues. one day you will attack the wrong scrawny person & you won't have a happy ending.I dated a girl who 5'2" & weighed around 90 lbs & she stomped the living crap out of an army ranger who smarted off to her for no reason. he was lucky that she didn't cut him. talk is cheap & it is easy to talk trash on the internet. I am not impressed by your boorish temperament 🤪🤪🤪🤪

I did see the "red's" song a few times, the singer sounds like a 20th rate Ronnie Hawkins wannabe. your band is a budget level bar band, nrbq can play out of time dissonant notes & make it work ALA monk.no way I would pay to see you. stay in your basement.
