Here’s another seemingly simple NREMT-style question. This one is about blood glucose levels and mental status.

The NREMT doesn't set blood glucose levels. Most likely though, to avoid ambiguity, they would likely position a BGL below 70 if the answer was hypoglycemia. This being said, it is always important to look at the other choices to make sure one of those is not better. Generally, it is better to think and apply rather than memorize. If you had a patient in the field at 72 mg/dL with an altered mental status, would you put that in your differentials for the cause? Yes. But if they were also older, you might also consider stroke or hypoxia or something else. Finally, if a patient normally has a very high BGL, a sudden change to the 70s may be felt by the brain. So... this is the long way of saying that 70 - 110 mg/dL is probably more clinically accurate, but the difference isn't significant when compared to your ability to evaluate the situation given to you on an NREMT question.
