They need too shorten the club season if they’re gonna have internationals every year otherwise the kangaroos will end up like the USA basketball team where the stars only play at the olympics(or World Cup in our game) and send a second or third string too every other international.

At its peak AFL is super entertaining - almost (but not quite) as good as peak NRL. The grand final was certainly not AFL at its peak. IMO NRL is much more consistently at its peak - especially for the big games like a GF. Also live AFL is a great product. Maybe give it a go and if you don’t like it it’s probably just not a sport for you!

@@kadinjamal1155 Been to a live game, it was worse than TV, when the ball was at the opposite end I had no idea who had it, people running and bumping everywhere doesn't help either. I spent most of the game watching people in the crowd who also weren't watching the game. 🤣 I think it's the scrap and the off the ball niggle that I don't care for, watching 8 blokes try to pick a rolling ball up off the ground and bumbling all over the shop just isn't fun. I also can't get excited because someone caught a ball on the full or kicked a ball between 2 sticks. Yes some marks are spectacular and some goals are too but you might not see either in 4 quarters. I also think the game goes for too long and only gets interesting in the 4th quarter if it's close. It reminds me of a Trotting race, nothing happens until the last few hundred metres, then the actual race is on. My wife's family are from Adelaide and her dad and brothers played and coached etc so they're all Crows fans and I've tried but it just does nothing for me. My wife doesn't even watch it anymore, she's right into League now, she thinks AFL is a bore too. I'd rather watch an NRLW game.

Here’s my thoughts on how the NRL should reshape the season to avoid players pulling out of intl. duty and avoid player and fan fatigue. Love to know your thoughts? Nrl Season 18 teams 20 round comp - Every team plays each other once - 1 bye and 1 extra game / rivalry round - Top 6 teams go to finals (bye week first round of playoffs) - 7-11play off in a knockout wildcard round - 7th (home) vs 10th and 8th (home) vs 9th (away) - From there normal finals system takes place Origin / Intl. season - 3 weekends in the middle of the year - Kickoff Saturday night - Nrl season pauses - Tonga, NZ, Samoa, Fiji comp runs around origin. Friday night / Sunday afternoon - Winner of the intl. comp plays Australia in a 2 match series after the NRL season commences - Players not involved play for reserve grade teams

Hey boys. I have been commenting on the Broncos coaching situation all year. Its obvious the boys liked Kevvie but didn't respect him enough to do what needed to be done this year. When Reece Walsh walked out with his shirt off for the pre-match warmup against the Titans away in a must win match - that sealed Kevvie's fate for mine. Whatever you think about Madge - I think we can all agree there is zero chance Reece will be pulling that kind of stunt next year.

L1 since D1, got a few question for you both Scope and High chief Viliamu. So the last two years our club Burpengary Jets has played Sam Thaiday in both GFs, recent team this year they had it stacked with K.Sims, Josh Hoffman the youngest Walter’s brother and Jharal Yow Yeh as coach. Question 1: Could we see scope or Viliamu coach or strap up for a season in the pub footy comps? Scope to chase that GF title. Maybe that’s what the ex broncos lads are doing😂 Question 2: Is there a flick of a switch before kick off when some players just turn into psychopaths? Playing against the likes of Sam Thaiday and K.Sims they are a different breed of beast on the field and as soon as the games over they shake your hand and are the most down to earth lads ever. Love the work USOs!

As a Broncos fan, the Kevvie situation is unfortunate but necessary. He had a great year last year where even Gordie, as a staunch Kevvie defender as a mate, said that they over achieved. They had an unbelievable roster and had little to no injuries throughout the entire year and other little things such as stars not having to play origin (Ezra, Reyno, Herbie, Kotoni) were around regularly enough to allow them to have an adversity free year, which may have allowed any coaching deficiencies to go unnoticed. Not saying Kevvie didn’t do a good job, but let’s all be honest, if it wasn’t the Broncos, he would have never coached another NRL side. There were two players that came out and said that he isn’t a great coach, which can’t just be slips of the tongue and nothing comments. Unfortunately, in situations like this when he clearly doesn’t have the backing of the playing group, it’s better to cut off ties now, allow Madge to have a full preseason, rather than try to see what can happen in 2025, only to come to the same conclusion and waste the year as Parra did this year

With everything that has come from the Walters/Broncos review, it would have been interesting to see if they would have parted ways with the same results if they had have won the comp in 2023. Like Willie said, all the same stuff was probably happening last year as well.

Regarding the international duties, it’s a very easy fix. Pay the clubs less money for the salary cap and reward the players who play rep duties and international money higher. The issue with that is that the guys at the bottom are going to get paid less.

For Penrith Panthers to go 3-2 in 5 Grand Finals and those 2 losses come from the same team Melbourne Storm. we are really having a debate if Penrith are the greatest team ever or in the last 50 years etc. If Penrith win this game and go 4-1 in the last 5 GFs I think thatll give them the title of greatest team. Both have such a good narrative and motivation for this game Penrith will deffs want to get this win back over the Storm and Storm will definetly want to be the team to start the dynasty and end the dynasty

Sorry for this novel but I think it needs to be done. Suspensions should 100 percent be served during regular season games only. I hate the storm but am guttered for big nelson missing a gf through Suspension. While I think his tackle definitely warrants time on the sideline missing finals or origins is not right unless it's deemed a malicious act. If two players both receive 3 game bans player A misses round 4,5,6 whilst player B misses a semi, prel an GF then u can make the argument that player Bs penalty is more severe than player A although both have committed similar acts. I take u back to issac luke missing the GF,2014 , the poor kid never played in another one. U r also robbing the fans. The only people that want to seen Nelson out of the GF is penrith supporters. Deferring suspensions to regular season games only make all suspensions equal. You can even defer them so said player misses the game of the team he committed the act against. In the case nelson should miss rd 1 and 2 next yr and the next time he plays the roosters for his 3rd game. This gives the roosters an advantage as they were the team put at a disadvantage by having Lindsay Collins out for 79mins. We have changed plenty of rules over the yrs to make the game better and I think this is a no brainer, as always great content keep it coming, go the perth bears

I think there are a lot of ways you can play with the suspension model. I.e. ratio games like finals = x2, semis and prelims = x3, GF x4. Or ratio charges similarly. But I think that serving suspension in regular season games is the only way that NAS could play this week. Only thing is, say its JFH instead of NAS and it happens week one of finals rather than in a prelim. Then he gets to play the finals out and rocks up to NZ to be suspended for the first 4 games for something he did 3 games ago potentially? Its a tough one, and I think everyone (even penrith fans and apparently even roosters ones) would rather see NAS playing this weekend. But it is what it is, do the crime do the time.

Hey lads, love the poddy. Would love to know who needs to step up for NAS. I think Welch will be vital. He’s only played limited minutes but I think it’s because he was coming off a back injury and Melbourne didn’t require his efforts in games. In 2020 he was crucial to stopping Cleary with kick pressure and his offloads allow for the running Storm spine to get a role on and put pressure back on defending teams.

QUESTION FOR THE BOYS: If you could eliminate any one player from your opponent’s team list this Sunday, but in exchange you have to give up the player in your team list with the same number, who would it be for each team? For example (off predicted team lists): Panthers - Take out Harry Grant, give up Mitch Kenny (tough one because Kenny sures up the Penrith middle so much, but Grant is the most influential player in Melbourne) Storm - Take out Yeo, give up Loiero. Getting anxiety about what I am going to listen to post-season lads, its been a good one!

Hey boys. Been another good year. My Roosters are gone but the better team won. You boys are the best by far at breaking the games down. Im sure already suggested. But i suggest that there be a week break between the nrl prelims and Grand final. 1st reason - 11 day stand down for concussion and other niggling injuries heal up and make a tougher game. 2nd reason - we are a national comp, so it would make it a lot more fair for teams that might have to travel back to vic, far north queensland, nz and soon to be PNG and perth. They also can do all the media stuff and get a couple quality training sessions in. 3rd reason - gives fans of each team a bit more of a chance to buy tickets flights and what not at a last minute. Maybe in the week off we line up the NRLW grand final at Suncorp. The origin is stand alone and i kinda feel they deserve a stand alone day. They are the fastest growing sport in australia.

I have an answer for the kick return that some might not agree with. Rather than always protecting the man with the ball when it comes to a head knock, duty of care should come from all players, with or without the ball. Lindsay Collins dropping his height in the tackle with Big Nasty and theoretically head butting Nelson's shoulder, whilst Nelson stood still waiting for the contact, sounds stupid from a ball runners perspective. JWH doesn't get penalised for the tackle with Koula because Koula made the conscious decision to tackle a fucking beast. If Collins makes a conscious decision to run at a fucking beast 3 inches taller than him, AND drop his height in the contact, that's duty of care to yourself out the window. LOVE the podcast Fellas, up the Broncos

Love the pod boys 💯 Just referring to the kick offs, understand the main concern is head knocks, what if main runner’s must wear a headgear, also if you have been concussed in the game its compulsory now to wear headgear? Also on side note could be a good market for personalised headgear for athletes to sell so there’s a return. I know the game will evolve but maybe this could be an avenue. Big ups!

Honestly my issue with AFL? I HATE that the game is based around horrible ball handling. Its always a mess. Its honestly filthy to see the scrambles onnthe ground for a ball. I love that other ball contact ball sports like League, NFL and Rugby punish poor ball handling. It makes the game tidy. Thats my real issue with AFL.

The issue with the ponga situation is that rugby league is not an international sport. Meaning it is majorly based around the club competition and state of origin. the powers that be are filling the calendar with all these games then tacking on a few more after the season has finished and expecting players to play. For examples sake, if you are an All Black, you are playing 16-18 international tests all over the world per season but barely playing half the club games and NRL player plays. Rugby is geared towards the international calendar. If vlandys wants international footy to thrive they need to cut the regular season.

As much as I hate to say it as I love the NRL season but I agree it needs to be made shorter. The internationals need to be mid season to make up for less NRL rounds. As much as I love my footy I find it hard to get excited about the end of season tests and I think they'd feel more meaningful during the year. Origin should be over 3 weeks then tests based on Origin merit after that. It kills me to say this as I hate the off season, but the GF should be the last game of the year.

44:44 I think with kick off you see a lot of the injuries because you’re seeing a 3rd man in. They need to limit the hit to 2 defenders. If you’re a 3rd man in making the tackle it’s a penalty straight away. Eliminate the 3rd man trying to make the tackle and it will lower the amount of injuries

So we know that Magg is the new broncos coach, congrats to him, my question is why wouldn't the broncos look at the walker brother in an attempt to lure sam back, food for thought.

I feel like Madge has found his niche, he is inherited a super team for a 3 game period. No stress in the coaching job other than banding a team together and engraving a game plan. NSW coach is specialist job and Madge is that guy.

Panthers 2021-2024 is the top 3 greatest team of all time. Dragons team of 1956-1966 that won the record 11 PREMIERSHIPS in a row is the greatest team of all time. This Panthers team can’t compare to the Dragons unless they also win 11 premierships in a row which won’t happen. Dragons also had 4 immortals in that team and the Panthers 2021-2024 will only max have 1 immortal in Cleary. The rest are class but not immortals. Dragons 1956-1966 record 11 PREMIERSHIPS in a row 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 vs Panthers 2021-2024 - 3 or possibly 4 premierships in a row 🏆🏆🏆 Not comparable, salary cap era or not. Young players leave regardless of salary cap if they don’t get game time just like Dragons lost players in the 1950-1960’s. Players like Katoa, Taylan May, Tago, Hopgood and others would’ve left if there wasn’t a salary cap due to lack of game time as they would’ve kept Crichton, burton, etc. Imagine Storm with no salary cap today they would’ve won many premierships to disrupt the panthers premiership run and panthers would never of got close to the Dragons record 11 premierships in a row. NEVER BEFORE, NEVER AGAIN 🐉❤️

@@alightthatnevergoesout hahahaha that’s ludicrous and plain wrong. 11 premierships in a row vs 3 premierships in a row is not comparable regardless of salary cap or not. Dragons 11 premierships in a row is a professional sport world record. Just think about it 11 YEARS in a row. Some players careers aren’t that long. It’s common sense that the Dragons record historic achievement is light years ahead and more impressive than 3 in a row. Over 3x more impressive to be exact.

Everyone says NAS got it wrong... if NAS lowered his target there is a fair chance NAS gets knocked cold and Collins gets to play on with no consequences... NAS has to take him chest on chest and its the whiplash (which Collins contributed too) that did the damage... Let him play...

Loving the pod lads, what are your thoughts on the league intergrating a draft like the NFL for the lower grade comps? Would be great exposure for the young fellas and promote the other comps.
@jay_arce
@jay_arce Күн бұрын
Watching local talent come up and through the grades is one of the best parts - having a draft would not only ruin that, it might also prevent clubs from investing in development. NRL a bit different to say, US sports, where players come through a college system that is completely district from the professional teams. Thats why it can work there but, in my opinion, not here.
