When I first heard this artist on my new transistor radio on Christmas day in 1965 (don't know why I remember this) I figured "Lightning Strikes" was by a girl singer. It was a really good Christmas for everybody, maybe that's why I remember it so well, I got skis, a bike, a transistor radio, and everything was right with the world from my perspective. Non-duplicatable, you can never go home again.

@@Johnnycdrums When I was in my teen years I heard Lou Christie songs on the radio Because of his unique singing voice I thought Lou was a girl singing He had that unique falsetto voice . I've been reading these various comments regarding my brother and there are few things that need to be clarified, first off is not wearing a rug and he never has, the only one that didn't have hair in our family was our Italian father, secondly Lou still performs around the world and he sings all of his songs in the same key that they were originally written in, thirdly it did not write"I'm going to make you mine"all the rest of the hits he did. Dick Clark is not wearing a toupee either. It was a very cool nice man. I think Lou may have been 20 or 21 when this American Bandstand show was on

I was fortunate enough to see Lou Christie along with the great Roy Orbison back in 1966. The show incredibly cost us $1.99 for these two stars. Of course to us back then that was a lot of money! But the thing I have always remembered most about Lou Christie were his eyes, they were absolutely striking and so sexy, and could he dance. Of course Roy just stood and sang but oh that voice!! What a show, it was certainly worth our $2.00!!!!

Lou performed in 2000 at a local festival in Whiting IN-which is next to Chgo where I'm from. He asked for a volunteer. If I hear that--I practically FLY onstage! Anyway-I danced w Lou & every band member! I've been performing professionally since age 4. It was a wonderful night! I even told a few jokes-like how my brother had too much "Rhapsody In The Rain" & became an 18yr old husband & dad! Lou said I wore him out dancing & that it was my workout. I said I work out 3 hours every day! It was so great to hear his unrivalled falsetto in person! He couldn't believe I'm Italian bc I look as Italian as Leo DiCaprio! My mom was Hungarian & German. Lou's songs are from before my time. My brother taught them to me. It was an honor to sing & dance w one of the best entertainers God ever created!

Lou Christie is celebrating his 80th birthday today, February 19, 2023. He is an American singer-songwriter known for several hits in the 1960s, including his 1966 US chart-topper "Lightnin' Strikes," (1965) "The Gypsy Cried" (1962),"Two Faces Have I," (1963) and "Rhapsody in the Rain" (1966), among others. He was born in Pennsylvania on February 19, 1943
