NRSVue Gift Bible by Zondervan

Nice overview! It is very nice for a gift Bible. Glad to hear the font is improved. I thought about grabbing one but I'm still holding out for a single column NRSVue.

Im still on the fence as to how it "fits" in my life. I use it for the psalms of the daily office, and it sure is nice. Though no gilded edges still grates me. But it is not going to be like that Collins RSV has become for me.

It seems great for the price. It would make a nice gift or a good copy for someone curious about the translation updates. I like the extra "helps" in the back, especially for someone new to the faith. Out of curiosity, I checked my small Bible collection for the Epesians 5:21/22 split. All but one of my copies splits it like the Bible in the video. I was shocked at the one that didn't: the little, Catholic Bible from the '50s that you sent me over a year ago begins the new section at verse 21 with the heading, "The Christian Home."

@@joest.eggbenedictus1896 I was wrong! I missed checking The Didache Bible (RSV-CE), and it keeps verses 21 and 22 together (same split as the older Catholic version). My daughter has a different Catholic translation upstairs, and I am going to check it today, just out of personal curiosity.

Thanks for the review on this Bible. I’ve been curious about it and am glad you did a review on it. I don’t think it’s one that I’ll be buying but I did buy another Bible that you reviewed which was the Experiencing God Bible and I’m enjoying it.

I completely agree with your criticism of Ephesians 5:21-22. Unfortunately, that is what the NRSVue says right from Friendship Press/NCC and the SBL. Zondervan did not supply the headings. The NRSV gets it right. No translation is perfect.
