I'm so surprised you were so chill about losing that absolute tank. I woulda (and have in the past) eatin' myself apart for the rest of the day about losing a fish like that. Huge respect for your chillness there, you set a great example for your kids and the fishing community 😄 I'll try to pick up that tip for the next time I get out on the water.

Just started trout fishing two weeks ago. Can’t believe how much fun it is. I don’t think I have the right gear/not sure what gear to use for trout. But I’ve caught a couple and it is so much fun.

For best results I recommend spinning gear no heavier than medium action. Line size is key i recommend 4-8lb fluorocarbon. Get yourself a good pair of polarized glasses and your all set.

I like using an ultralight rod and 4 lb fluoro. I agree with the polarized sunglasses. I got a yellow color lens that I prefer from amazon that wasn’t expense, less than $20.

Awesome video, I've been waiting for this one, you converted me to the magnets. I used the same rig with a trout magnet hook, but with a green trout magnet float and unfortunately it sunk the float. Great to see your excitement reeling in the Bigg'in, and your sons having a great time at the pond.

On the 2nd set up does the bobber and split shot weight always go down to your jig hook when reeling it in? That has been happening to me. Not sure if i did not set up correctly? Thanks! Hoping to catch my first trout lol. Keep it up!
