Trying to get into this and this shit is overwhelming lol. I thought this was buy a rod and reel. Tie up a line and a hook/bait and go catch something. Now I'm doing calculus to find which spot trout travel to while also learning fish psychology to lure them into a trap wherein might be able to catch them if my fish reeling tactics are 100.

Not many people know how to do it on the cheap. It's not as complicated as these guys make it. Try some nightcrawlers, and learn how to work the pools! I've spent way more on my cameras for my channel than my gear haha
@jenkins10174 жыл бұрын
At least your doing it right, you'd be amazed how many people talk about how much they love fishing and how they've been doing it all their lives; then you go out and their putting a nightcrawler on a hook with a bobber like you would for a five year old. Not bashing it, it works. But there's so much more opportunities out there to catch something.

It’s pretty insane but simple at the same time, especially with no family or friends to teach me. There are so many knots, places, rules, and baits. Like what do I use? Where do I go if there aren’t any rivers/lakes near me? I have no clue but fishing is a great way to get outside and away from everything.

Since we're talking about 'stockers'. The fish are raised in moving water in long concrete tanks. The larger more aggressive fish will be closest to the water inlet. When planted in a small stream, their first actions are to establish the 'pecking order', the more aggressive want the upstream location. If you've watched freshly planted fish, it's common to see pairs of fish chasing one another, biting at the other's tail. A small in-line spinner cast over the school and brought back over the fish will induce a 'stay back where you belong" strike. (I fish for the table, not for 'sport'.) Uphill from Valley Falls, (Willow Creek?), Oregon. Freshly planted, just for fun. A de-barbed treble on a home made inline spinner. Materials cost for each: 39¢ in the 1990's. With a slackened line, no problem for a fish to throw the hook. Eighteen casts, 19 hookups. The only time in over twenty some years that my wife watched me fish. "Oh."

@osirisblaster4 жыл бұрын
@@connorfinch9943 being able to fish the middle of the lake gives you better diversity of where you're able to fish that you cant with shore fishing, you need a 2nd pole endorsement on your fishing lisence to fish with a second pole. With a second pole you can set up a pole with something like a drop shot rig with some bait that has some buoyancy and leave it alone and then have your primary pole that you're actively fishing with with something like a spinnerbaits, soft plastics, and jigs.

Wow! What great information thank you. I have an unrelated question if you don’t mind? I’m making the transition from stream fishing to lake, I’m a complete imbecile when it comes to lures and how they’re used. Do you just cast and retrieve, do you jerk them back & forth, fast, slow, does it depend on which lure you’re using as to which way you use them? Thank you, you guys have a really great channel here. #AWholeNewWorld

Question: if I get a GSP Light rod 7'6", will it work as close as the GSP 7'6" Ultralight?
@gregguillot48703 жыл бұрын
This is a great question 'cause sometimes the difference between light & ultralight is a lot. I use Okuma Celilo & Leland's TCB rods for all my non-fly trout setups. All are 6'6" and longer & are 2-6lb weight. Any rod with a fast tip & good strong backbone will do just fine. I also never use any mono over 6lb for the main line, & my leader line is always 2-4lb flurocarbon. I never realized the power of trout fishing with those length & weight of rods until I actually started using them. I used to use light 5'6" falcon bucoo rods for trout, which are my main rods for river smallie fishing. My thinking was smaller fish (trout), smaller setup, right? Well, I was wrong. You need that length & fast action to cast that light lure out as far as you can. It's amazing how much farther I can cast & get the lure out to the sweet spot of the river, not to mention the sensitivity of the rod tip. I am catching way more fish now since I can actually feel & see the trout playing with the lure. There's no telling how many trout I've lost when using an improper setup. What used to take me hours to catch a limit, is now only taking me about 45 minutes. Enjoy!

@oshiin50654 жыл бұрын
I caught that too. I thought the diameters of fluorocarbon and mono are more or less the same 🤔
@oshiin50654 жыл бұрын
I think maybe what he's saying is this (which I got from Berkeley Fishing): "Diameter-Fluorocarbon is about the same diameter as nylon monofilament of the same breakstrength. But because fluoro is so hard for fish to see, you can upsize pound test for extra strength and abrasion resistance, without spooking line-shy fish."
