Awesome at 2 minutes in....people sitting there along tracks waiting for steam special, and a seeing a five car, two loco consist blast by with that GP38-2 with awesome airhorns, BTW i grew up at the other end of the line in Bellevue Ohio and this was the NS i knew and loved.

Loved seeing the "083" especially the last clip with the CP and SOO power! In those years I lived near the NS and would see the 083 just about every night between 11pm and 2am. My dog actually learned that hearing "083 clear Cloggsville" on the scanner meant it was time to go for his walk to see the 083. The SOO horns were unmistakable. The 084 came through eastbound in the late morning. We used to enjoy the 291 and 290 with NYSW power also.

As far as those high hood GP-38's and SD40's during this period....NS DID NOT HAVE ANY TOILETS on many of those engines. What they had was a bucket with a "shit bag" numbered liner to relieve yourself. I guess you could say that Norfolk Southern was the early inventor of Cologard that we have today!

@@ReadingAreaRailfan I believe he may be referencing the B36-7 high nose that was trailing the C40-8 at 7:46 or even the C30-7 at the start. Not a U34CH, but I could see where it's easy to get them confused given their similar body design.
