Best years for the vert skaters in my opinion is late 80s

Definitely. They must have been on top of the world and invincible, with good cheques coming in, but then in space of a few months, it changed. It went from videos from companies with vert skaters. Then they had the token street guy, to 2 or 3 street guys, to then all Street guys with token vert guy. I remember thinking at the time, in 91 ish when all the companies were dropping vert guys, it must have been tough for the ones with families who were earning good money one month to practically nothing the next. While some freestyle guys laughed all the way to bank.

I think of Jeff Grosso (RIP) as Lance & NMB's. "Love Child". Bit of Roskopp too. JG was on Santa Cruz early on. The Sadplant & cutaway shape legacy, yknow?!! I LOVE SKATEBOARDING. I'm an 80s Skater all the way.

I was at this contest, drove up from Portland. My buddy and I got split up, my Dad and I were driving around looking for him after the contest. We see him walking toward the car with a board in his hands (we left ours in the car). He hops into the car (Chris Miller had an awful contest)...my buddy bumped into Miller and his girlfriend and Miller says to my buddy, "hey kid, will you get rid of this for me?". My buddy was so pumped.
