Hi Rami, Absolutely loved your powerpoint videos and am looking forward to the coming vids. Still think a lot about the 'intolerance of uncertainty' and 'intolerance of discomfort' concepts. This helps me to put perspective into certain situations and get a little bit of distance. (sort of 'metacognitive therapy' kinda thingy) Amazing how such a simple idea can change a lot in lives of individuals. Don't worry (haha) too much about viewing numbers in the beginning. When keeping up with posting, they will grow steadily. I love the 'scientific based' principle. There is too much guessing going on around self-help topics. Also, the channel 'Therapy in a Nutshell' can be a good example of making these kinds of videos. Emma does a lot around ACT, which is also really helpful. Cheers!

The worry management skills and tips will be coming in future videos. My approach is to help people understand the problem with models and then educate about tools to manage the problem based on the model. It takes a little more time to explain, but I find it more useful than the typical "5 simple steps to eliminating worry" approach.

Hi, Great Video! Can you please clear my confusion. You told that Worry tends to be about future, then explaining worry types you marked Type 1 as being worried on current situation. This is a bit confusing for me. Thanks
@DrRamiNader2 жыл бұрын
Type 1 worries are worries about problems that currently exist, but the worry itself is about the impact of that problem in the immediate future. So the worry isn't about whether the problem has happened (because it has), but more about how the problem will be solved or the implications of the problem. Hope that makes sense.

You can never fully eliminate worry, because everyone worries. But you can learn tools to manage worries, so that they are not excessive an interfering, and in that way, you can manage GAD.

Your pragmatic guidance is welcome and all too rare. I wonder if someday you can do something about hoarding, as it relates to Intolerance of Uncertainty. I have a hard time getting rid of things that can be useful, esp things that can "just" be fixed or cleaned, and are not something Goodwill would accept but I fear going into the landfill. ADD aggravates this and its mostly clutter and too many unfeigned projects and not enough executive function. Struggling to find any therapist in Seattle who will take my insurance, but in the meantime if you know odf any videos that would help that would be kind thank you.I took a 10 week DBT thingie so I know the skills, it's the focus that kills me :( At the end of my rope

Why is it mostly said that anxiety or worry is always about future? While there are many examples where worry can be for present or past situation. For example: Why I have slow processing speed (present)? Why I couldn't get 1st grade (past)? Can you please explain a bit? Thanks
@DrRamiNader2 жыл бұрын
The examples you provide don't sound like worries, but more questions. If there are worries about those things, the worries are probably about how those things would affect a person in the future.

@@DrRamiNader , Thanks a lot for reply. I am 35 years old and Software Engineer and recently diagnosed with GAD. However I have "worry on little things" pattern since childhood. I am too much habitual to think too much and search things on internet and if I get answer from internet according to my mind (My own theory) then I get satisfied and stop further searching. But if I get answer contrary to my own mind theory then I get irritated and keep on searching again and again which pushes me in further trouble. For example your video as well as other many articles explain two types of worry: 1- Real event Worry : Which actually exists on current time and on which "some action can be taken" 2- Hypothetical worry : Worry about things which are expected to happen in future. "What if" ? type of questions Now my mind is unable to accept this worry division and definitions completely there are many questions e.g. - There can be worry on many "current" situations where a person is unable to take any action like fatal illness, natural disaster, country current crisis, my favourite team is losing match etc - Hypothetical worry should not only include worry about future but also fake worries about present or past. e.g. 1- Self-doubt (worry) about my own abilities, 2- Doubt/irritation (worry) that I am doing a worthless job. 3- Fake belief that perhaps I have got a fatal illness (Health Anxiety) I mean every current fake or unreal thought which pushes in anxiety/unsatisfaction should be included in hypothetical worry. This is one example which I mentioned and I frequently have different opinion to internet articles and keep on searching articles which can satisfy my mind. I have written too long in this comment sorry for that but I will be very thankful to you If you can help.

@@DrRamiNader , Can you please help me to classify following worries: In which group these type of worries lie e.g 1- Worry of current disaster, 2- Worry of country's bad financial situation. 2- Worry of my favourite team is losing match Are these in Real event worries which are solvable or hypothetical? And In which category these lie e.g. 1- Self Doubt, 2- Self-doubt (worry) about my own abilities ? Thanks
@DrRamiNader2 жыл бұрын
Worry of a current disaster is type 1, worry of bad financial situation for a country is type 1 if the country actually has a bad financial situation and worry about favorite team losing a match is type 2, if they haven't played the match yet.
