To this date, this is the greatest performance in HBOTB history.

I was marching for PV at that Honda...we went on 2 bands after them, no one got house after this performance! Norfolk from that year was probably the closest I've heard an HBCU get to that DCI sound.

I was at this performance. Coming from an NSU Spartan Legion Alum; Many of us were in tears because we knew once the world got a glimpse of what our program was about and what we could do that it would be a game-changer. Our style was different from any other HBCU that performed that night and our sound was unmatched. Not even the Mighty Pride of Bethune Cookman as large as they were could match the intensity in which our ensemble performed that evening. 2008, in my opinion, we weren't as good as our debut but we were better than all the rest. Let's see what happens when we return. BEHOLD!

I know this is old but just listen to the crowd open up with the band at the 3:50 mark. Its crazy. I have never heard a crowd like that during a freakin DRILL.

That's the SPARTAN LEGION! BEHOLD THE GREEN & GOLD. This has been their style since forever. The director coming from a Big 10 school has nothing to do with it. The musicality of the band and the sound of the "Million Dollar Funk Squad" (drum line) has been a tradition that runs way back into the 80s. At least 4 or more directors before the current one.

IMHO this applies as a Honda Classic performance!

In coming to Honda Battle of the Bands the last three years this was the single most exciting performance of all the bands. Much kudos to Norfolk State University.

Well, me being from GA and now residing in DC, I saw Norfolk last year at Howard. I see NSU alot being Norfolk is right down the road. They are a beast in the MEAC. Their band director used be the director of bands or an assistant at U of Minnesota I believe. So, you see that Big Ten corp style mixed with that HBCU flavor and precision which is unique, as well as, the Spartan Legion uniforms. The Spartan Legion was phenomenal that year. They need to get that announcer they had that year!

@Thanos1919 It took no creativity but I suppose the 7 other bands in that stadium that moved the same diamond across the field where full of it right? At the end of the day, the crowd liked it and the whole performance came off great. You cant deny that.

Look for NSU to be about 250 this upcoming year. If BCU comes to VA it will be the match up of the year.

@SHINE91215 жыл бұрын
You can go on the site to get the tickets or if you stay in Atlanta go up to the GA dome and get them they are 10 for upper and 12 for lower they are on sell now but try your best not to buy from ticketmaster because they add 8 dollers on for their fee's

@NAB4 - Um, that drill SUCKED! Come on now. The song was, on a scale of 1-10, a 10. the drill was a 2. That drill was HORRIBLE. A kid could have written that drill. There was NO creativity in that drill AT ALL. Just because the song was fabulously performed doesn't mean that it was a good drill. Again, just in case no one heard me the first few times I said it, the drill itself was G--A--R--B--A--G--E!! The song, beeeeeautiful. Great sound Norfolk. Just hire another drill writer.

Thanos1919 Your probably someone thinking that you can write a better drill. Let's face it your probably not writing drills anywhere for yourself a middle school or highschool so don't hate. Just absorb it and enjoy the Legion you might just learn something
@deem103 жыл бұрын
The drill is a big part of the reason that the song sounds so good. Check out Paul Adams’ interview with Meet Me At the 50.
