In this one, we head back out to Willie’s to rescue the rare NSU Prinz. I don’t know diddly about em! I knew it needed to be pulled up out of there though!

The NSU Prinz, was my first car. It came with 3 basket case engines. I was just 14 years old. I worked on it everyday for months. I finally figured out it was never going to run but it’s what started my career as a mechanic.

@@PuddinsFabShop I think they together with Zimca, Zaab and the VW bug catered for a market of cheap cars that were not spartan like the Citroen 2CV and Fiat 500 - 600 but had a little extra panache. The Prinz 4 that came in the 60'ies were much more wide spread. We still occasionally spot one on the roads. My mom really liked Prinz 4 / Prinz 1000 in the 80'ies despite not being a big car fan and tried to get one. But until I saw this film I did not even know they marketed Prinz in the states.

The NSU Prinze brochure in the beginning of the video is from Selinsgrove Pennsylvania, that’s up around from where I’m from. I remember seeing some of these cars running around when I was very young.

my both grandpas had a NSU prinz in their lifetime (though newer square ones, similar to russian zaz 968) and they were really quick cars for its time and conditions (when cars had between 30 and 40 horsepower in average) also, the wheel it was sitting on that you pulled from underneath it was possibly the original wheel btw

Please buy the car in the video behind you when your loading the Prinz. That's one of my all time favorites. A Borgward Isablla Coupe. Very rare in the USA. Only other one I saw was in a yard in New Jersey. That was complete down to the hubcaps. There weren't any others around , so nobody took parts off of it. Please get that one 2. Think of a Subaru Flat 4 BOXER engine for the Prinz. It might be to far gone to do a correct restoration, so have fun with it. Leave the outside alone but use a new undercarriage and drivetrain.

I owned one of those Borgwards more than 50 years ago, they sure were a great car and fast too, never owned a Prinz but I did have two NSU RO80's plus the one I still own. Just love quirky cars.

The Isabella is a sedan. They were all 2 door. The coupe has a different body.

Little old stuff like that is more common in the rest of the world, including Mexican deserts with less rust, than in the USA, and heavy, dense parts like transmissions are not that hard to ship across oceans, but bulky things like body panels are a bit harder.
