I just read an interview where Chris and Lance said this was the hardest video shoot for them to do. The plan was to film the video in 24 hours and then it got pushed to 3 days and this was also during the preparing for the Pop Odyssey tour. Chris said they were all miserable and burned out during the shoot and Lance was uncomfortable with the girls lol. Also with MTV there the cameras were on them all the time so Chris hated that. I’m assuming this was starting point for the downfall that became their hiatus leading to breakup.

One thing that's never questioned is whether the label planted the idea for Justin to go solo because they saw the writing on the wall with boybands. Justin was the youngest and realistically had the most media attention, so it wouldn't have been hard to subtly encourage that idea to grow, guaranteeing a successful artist if tastes for pop music changed. I believe Justin knew he COULD do it, but it never made sense to me that the label wouldn't give him every possible option (writing, collaborators, producers, etc.) within the group to keep them together, unless they were okay with the group ending. If the label really wanted to keep NSYNC intact, they could have done a lot more to entice him to stay/do both. I also wonder who hired Wayne Isham (the studio, manager, or the guys), and whether there was a discussion above the guys' heads to feature Justin. I can't imagine he did that on his own as a director, because storyboards etc. have to be approved in advance. Not to mention "Gone" was originally written for Michael Jackson, but he turned it down. NSYNC recorded it, but then MJ changed his mind and wanted to do it as a a duet with Justin, but he said no because it was already recorded with the guys. But apparently this interaction is what convinced him to go solo.
