Thank you so much for the video. I feel very confident tackling this project tonight. I was having doubts about this car, with huge love hate relationship. My 03 cts has unfortunately suffered from all the most common issue and this video and your other videos made it very doable. Again, a big THANK YOU from the little Ocean State....Rhode Island.

i agree 100 percent you must use permatex on these rubber gaskets in these northstar engines to finally get them sealed but Felpro the gasket manufacturer absolutely does not agree with our method and they state you should never use permatex on rubber gaskets like i mentioned i agree with you but im just simply saying what Felpro suggests just so people watching this video can see this thanks great video brother ;)

Wanted to come here to thank you for this video. I had a gasket leak and I viewed this video plenty times and completed the job today. All was well except the car won’t start just keeps turning over. I can’t think what it could be but I feel like it’s something with that fuel line on the passenger side. Any suggestions I’ll appreciate it. Great video very detailed, thanks again 👌🏾

Great video, thanks! I have a coolant leak and was thinking it was either the oil cooler or a head gasket. The coolant is running down the back of the engine on top of the transmission. Sound like a common problem?
@Nthefastlane6 жыл бұрын
Check the back of the cylinder head, there is a coolant line exiting it. Tends to leak there. Tight spot, but that could be your problem.

You are great! I will do again it in your way. TIS 2000 shows only 4 corner - at the cam - to push instant gasket. ... but oil leaks at the places, whre you offer to put instant gasket. Z

If you have a bad/clogged pcv system it will cause excessive crankcase pressure. The crankcase pressure will cause oil to get past the piston rings and burn in the combustion chamber and out the exhaust.

Could this be a possible repair instead of a total head gasket repair? My car had a little bit of oil on the Spark plugs, and replacing them made it go from one cylinder misfiring to 4 of them misfiring. I also go through coolant pretty quickly. I love my cts so much but it's not worth spending thousands on a new head gasket.

Will this solve oil in the spark plug coil?
@Nthefastlane5 жыл бұрын
Yes it will. The only way it would not is if the cylinder head had a crack in the spark plug galley. Chances of that are very unlikely. I would say 95% chance it's your valve cover gasket. If you see it in multiple spark plug galleys then definitely valve cover gasket needs to be replaced because it's too brittle and no longer seals.

I was wondering I have a smell of antifreeze on the left side of my engine. If I follow your video. Will I be able to replace gasket to keep antifreeze from leaking out? It’s not much yet but it’s a matter of time before it gets worst. What gasket should I look for? The only one I’ll like to replace is the one that is leaking but if it makes sense to replace everything else I will. Please help. Hope you read this post.

In the future if you have any questions you can always post on my Forum. www.Nthefastlane.com/forum For your question, I would say that there's a coolant nipple on the back in between the two cylinder heads. The hose could have dry rotted. I would try to get over the engine and look down at the back and see if you can see the coolant hose. It connects into a nipple. I believe it's the heater control valve hose that runs up through the back of the engine all the way up to the passenger side of the vehicle, and then up to the radiator.

Same engine as omega in Uk/Eu and Catera in US? Coil pacs have a threaded insert in the bolt holes in Uk engines. We can use the plenum bolts to screw into the coil pack to pull them out easier. Presume same for you guys in the US. ....ps we get black rubber gaskets from dealer comes with black goo, flicked through the video. Apologies if I missed these points.
