Watched the entire video, cover to cover and took notes. I have learned more about freight trains' consist of hazardous materials than my "Emergency Handling of Hazardous Materials" book that I've had for years. The story and the findings make me glad my Engineer uncle never had this kind of incident while moving freight. Thank you for posting this content.

Incredible work from the NTSB team in the investigation and report. Thank you for your dedication and service to the people of the area impacted and America at large, sharing truth to the public, and holding the seedy unethical behavior of corporate interests to light.

For once, I am proud of a "servant of the people". That is, the entire board. Good job getting at as many facets of the "truth" as you could find.

The old saying “Uphill slow, downhill fast, tonnage first, safety last” certainly applies to Norfolk Southern. Their handling of the wreck was abysmal, and the cavalier attitude between them and the contractors leads me to believe they flew in with the intention to perform the vent and burn operation, despite any contraindications.

Jennifer PLEASE RUN FOR PRESIDENT! To ALL of the NTSB staff THANK YOU FOR YOUR SACRIFICE TO HELP OUR COMMUNITY THAT HAS BEENLET DOWN BY SO MANY. Please pass those pictures on and tell them it's from Krissy with love.

For those of who who work for the big freight carriers like Norfolk Southern, this "unprecedented and reprehensible" behavior comes as no surprise. Long known as the "Nazi Southern," this railroad has a long and sordid history of running roughshod over its employees, shippers, Amtrak, and trackside communities. Apparently, the Class One carrier believes it can do the same thing with government agencies as well. Kudos to Chair Homendy for calling out this unacceptable and despicable behavior.

Have they been compared to the Nazis since this derailment, if you don't mind me asking?

The commitment and professionalism of the public servants at NTSB is extremely impressive and inspiring. We are lucky as Americans to have them - especially in light of Norfolk Southern's efforts to corrupt the process, as Ms. Homendy shared at the end of the day.

Chairwoman Homendy for president. Unbelievably precise, factual, compassionate, and truthful EP thanks you all for your hardwork and dedication. Truly amazing.

We have video from where the train cars were taken from EP and sat directly next to the Ohio river. These cars were highly contaminated with toxins and were left in a field not more then 100 yards from the river with no barriers and no way to stop rain run off with contamination from entering the river. Literally we have footage from the exact time a dump truck pulled out of the facilities in East Palestine then dumped the wreckage next to the river. Side notes the very next day it poured for hours. Such a shame the wool they pull over everyone's eyes. We have video evidence of the process in the entirety which was 45 minutes uninterrupted. The dump truck driver was not able to speak American so we assume he had no idea what he was hauling.

Overall corporate greed screwed over those in East Palestine.

I am so glad the chair shared this detailed information. I’m not surprised that exactly what she describes based on the behaviors of NS is what happened. Not one bit! The unbelievable part is that there will be no consequences for it.

Looking forward to downloading this final report; still amazed they can get reports out in 18-24 months given all the investigations they're working on with less than 500 staff and several aviation crashes every day

2:36:32 Member Inman is incorrect here. It is not just railroads. The maritime industry does something pretty similar with classification society rules (and ABYC rules for certain small craft). It would seem that Member Inman is perhaps less qualified to sit on the National Transportation Safety Board than would be ideal, given that he evidently doesn’t know much about transportation safety standards.
@Holabirdsupercluster6 ай бұрын
Board members are experts in their particular industries and are not expected to know everything about everything. That's why it's a board of people, and not just one person. Inman's expertise is in two areas: first, he worked for a long time as a fire investigator, and second, he also worked for a long time in state and federal emergency and transportation bureaucracies and understands how they work. Other board members have other experience. That's how it works.
