I am a Catholic but very sad we have a Pope who broke his vow of obedience to God. He wants same sex union blessed but does not want couples living outside catholic marriage blessed. Logically if the priest blesses the same sex couples who are doing the union, the priest is also blessing their union, simple as that. Such a ‘blessing’ causes a number of questions. What is a homosexual couple seeking by asking for a blessing? What is the Church offering in response? What is the Holy Spirit called for and what is exactly being blessed? What is a spiritual purpose of such a ‘blessing’ and what sort of a particular help it intends to provide? Love and acceptance can make miracles of soul transformation, and Pope Francis' vision on the same-sex unions seems to be about love and acceptance. Would it be compatible with the words of our Lord: "Let He Who Is Without Sin Cast the First Stone" (John 8:7)? Apostle Paul in 1 Cor 6:9,10 was talking specifically about "men who have sex with men" with the intention to just satisfy their lust, but said nothing about homosexuality as such. The Holy Scripture condemns sexual lust in all its appearances - ‘traditional’ and ‘pervert’, but says nothing at all specifically about homosexuality and same sex people, who want to live together in love and faith. Jesus saved the adulteress from being stoned by the crowd, He showed compassion, forgave her sin, and sent her away, warning her to sin no more. Same sex couples and marriages should be handled exactly in the same way. This inclusivity thing makes no sense. These are lost sheep, and although we are all sinners, they need to be forgiven and sent away and told not to sin anymore. Maybe a blessing can be administered at this point, not before it is made clear to them and everyone that they have sinned.
