The 1992 Elections ushered in a new era in Kenya's political landscape. For the first time, the country was to experience a competitive political field, after then President, Daniel Arap Moi gave a nod to repeal section 2A of the Constitution of Kenya, bringing back multi-party democracy.
But it is also a year that the ruling party changed how campaigns were done by mobilising the youth vote and the involvement of money to woo voters. NTV's Enock Sikolia brings us the story of 'YK '92,' a youth wing that campaigned for Moi's re-election amid increased pressure for change.

I always wondered, if these teams were so good. Why did they not develop any long lasting solutions, or earth shattering decisions that would turn Kenya into a world super power. Lets look at the Nyamweya's who could not even run a football federation. This country is led by fools, and they have been at the helm since independence. Their legacy will be one of failure and will never go down in the history of Kenya. They can't live forever..

YK 92 were very ruthless to civil society , we felt as if there was carfew as from six oclock in the evening....going out was taking a risk with this group.

I lived in 'opposition' zone but still we had to watch what we said around people, but it was never that bad, as some places. In the last 6 months I have a friend who occasionally opens up on his experience with Kanu Youth and it's local leader where he grew up. It's like another universe, they really did a number on his area. After the Kibaki regime won elections that local Kanu Youth leader escaped outside the country with his whole family, the things he did with his goons he couldn't stay in the country. It's a well documented local story, am sure it will be widely know and documented nationally.
