Just coming across your content and your passion for music is obvious in all of your videos. You spoke about your children and passing things on to them when that time comes. Nice tour! Love that vintage Zenith turntable and speakers! I loved seeing that stuff growing up. Friends of the family had nice audio gear back in the late 60s and early 70s. I used to sit transfixed staring at the stuff whenever we were visiting and such. About 2010 I was finally able to get some vintage gear I remember. Most of it I have given up or sold, but I still have some pieces I kept. I have a Marantz 2238b receiver and a Sansui 8080db receiver, which is my prized piece. I also have a Pioneer PL510A, a PL530 and a Denon DP47f all still in service today! The Pioneer turntables of old are built like brick houses. So what if I can't stick a $9000 tonearm on them, I don't need to. I also don't have that kind of cash flow. I have a pretty fair collection myself, about 700 records (not nearly as big as yours, if it was I would need two apartments). I have my records sorted in similar fashion. Currently, I am wanting to build my jazz collection. I want at least a crate full. I only have about 6 or 7 jazz records right now. I also keep a database with info on my records and such just for fun. I never sell off records because I am very selective in what I pick up. I'm building a listening library as I am not a "collector". I also liked seeing all those box sets. I can't afford any of the MoFi stuff. I have box sets from the early days though and they are fun and sound very good as well. That Dylan Biograph set is a gem in regards to sound quality.

Thanks for the tour. My question has to do with the volume your family will tolerate since it looks like the room is open to the living area downstairs. My pet peeve with speakers is "the veil" that must be lifted to hear detail and soundstage and that comes down to volume. I use high efficiency vintage Frazier horn driven speakers almost exclusively and even these have to get to a certain volume to open up, though at low levels they are mighty enjoyable too. Again, thanks for bringing all of us together in a place that is not judgmental and feels very safe.
@NTXVinyl3 жыл бұрын
Correct. The room is completely open, so I do have to watch volume at times. But it goes both ways, when I am able to crank it up it fills the entire house. 😄

Very cool! I spotted those Zeppelin boxes sets the second the camera hit them! Great idea with the dupe copies of the Zeppelin records for your kids too. I have a couple questions, since I'm seeing this almost two years after it was filmed: 1) Do you still use that same TT? Curious how the dust issue has been since it doesn't have a cover. 2) Has your collection grown out of this room yet?? 😁 3) How do the acoustics sound in there? Looks like it might be a loft area?
@NTXVinyl7 ай бұрын
Yup same TT. Dust isn’t much of an issue. I spin records so often that a dust cover just gets in the way. I won’t grow out of this room. Purposely keeping it contained. It’s nearly “complete” at this point Sounds great. Throughout the whole house because yes it’s a very open space Cheers!

Saw this one youtube video where this man from Germany had all the vinyls out from the boxes - kind of liked that idea. Might not work with you though as have "few" boxes but for some who have less it can be handy. I hate the idea to move boxes that have no cover - but if vinyls are out and in plastics sleeve then you "save boxes"

@@The_RnR_Tailor Check it out man! I found an ancient blog I created years ago when i built it! As you can see it was originally a stand up desk, but have transitioned it to display/store records and my vintage turntable gisanders.tumblr.com/post/38147165519/since-transitioning-to-a-stand-up-desk-midway

What was the part of your collection that you called “mofi?” I’m not familiar with that term. Thanks for the video.

This video popped up on my recommended and I'm now hooked on your channel! That Gilmour signed record caught my eye 😍 would dream to have that. Is there a story behind it? Did you meet him? I have a few signed records that I'd love to get framed (two Coldplay signed by Guy ❤) but am afraid of them fading over the years. Is there anyway to prevent that? Would love to be able to frame them like you have yours!😋

Love to hear it! Appreciate you watching. I regret not mentioning some of my posters and those framed albums. I did not get the Gilmour LP signed personally, but I trust the person that gifted it to me, and they did get it signed by him.

@@NTXVinyl You're welcome! Keep up the good work ❤ ohh ok, still very special though 😍 it's my dream to see him live one day. Are you not afraid the record fading in colour though next to sunlight like that?? I want to frame some of mine but don't want them to fade. Is there a secret I'm missing?😂

Very nice! Enjoyed watching! I didn’t see any CDs and was curious if you have any at all. I assume you DID have some CDs at some point.. Did you sell them at some point? Would be interested in hearing about what you collected and when and if/when you added or deleted any formats in your listening and collecting. Thanks!

I have actually held onto very few CDs. When streaming landed I abandoned them pretty quickly. Have steadily collected vinyl for 25 years, having ramped up drastically in the last 10 years or so.

Very cool to see your setup. Don’t you find having your seating facing you off to the side of your speakers problematic? Why not center your seating to face your speakers? You’re missing the dimensional stereo sound stage no?

@@NTXVinyl nice collection!!, having seen you gear, the improvement with a nice preamp will be substancial compared with the marantz phono input, I can recommend the TUBE BOX S2 by Project. Everybody keep telling you that because they are right!.

If you really want those Polks to sing you need a separate amp that pushes at least 200wpc @8ohms 300@4ohms.(at least) I had the RTiA9's and they were way power hungry and had the same driver configuration as yours. I was attempting to run them with a Denon receiver before I knew better and they never got to their potential.

Thanks for the tip! Is there a certain preamp you'd recommend?
