Let me put in my two cents here. From a psychological standpoint, Ani compensates for her sense of inferiority (in her unconsciousness) through one of the defense mechanisms- projection. She uses her figure and beauty to entice other men to pay her extra for sex. In her mind, she looks at it as if she has power over men, that they succumb to her sexual power. Regrettably, that is all she will ever have. Looking defeated by all accounts, she might have fallen for Igor, as he is well-built, and what they called in the mafia, he can take care of himself--and by extension, Ani herself--losing the big tuna, well at least she can console herself with a bonito. Being hypersensitive, she could not and would not admit that, so she accused Igor of having a thing for her. She has no idea what romance is, and she equates sex to love. A normal girl would propose an outing to catch a movie or a picnic, she is clueless. I think the director wisely ended the movie as it is because we don't need another sugar-coated, happy-ending Hollywood movie like Pretty Woman. Thank you for recommending this movie. I saw Mr. Yip on another channel and fortunately found you have your own channel, I am super- excited as there are more than 300 episodes to catch up.
