Beautiful performance! I am from Finland and I love Irish music very much. I have visited your lovely country of Ireland several times. This lovely song I heard for the first time sang by late Luke Kelly. How on earth beautiful Ireland has created so many many lovely melodies and got so many excellent performers! Thankyou!

This is a lovely version indeed. The song is actually Scottish. Luke Kelly had Scottish roots on his mother's side, and made many trips to Scotland collecting songs. I don't think he drew any sharp distinction between Irish and Scottish traditional music, and I think that's a good thing. There has long been a lot of crossover between the two.

Hi, I am hear again to listen to you, dear and beautiful Irish melodymakers ! I concentrate on Irish music now because now it seems to be difficult to fly over there fom Finland because of Corona- problems. So I enjoy your music here and thank for it!

This is pretty amazing. I have learned this song, and it is not easy! There are so many verses, and in this video, she sings them so effortlessly. Then, after singing all of those verses, she still pulls out a perfect solo on the flute at the end! Beautiful version, flawless guitar, vocals, and flute. I could just listen to this over and over.

Haunting song in that it touches on the tradition where a slain Gaelic hero might return for one last night to his loved one

I lived in Toronto for sixteen years til 1994, where I got into the Irish music. And now I live back in Japan where I grew up. But I've met Eamonn at least a few times at Mona's Pub in NYC, at his sessions w Pat Ourceau -- who now lives in Toronto, go figure! I had not known Eamonn was such a great song accompanist :-) And I was also a fellow fiddler with dear friend Oliver Schroer, who I later heard you had known & recorded with, Nuala. Oliver wrote a tune for me, calling it The Honourary Irishman (Jim Ediger's). My name is Ediger, James Ediger. :-) Cheers!
