Nucala

Nucala represents another treatment for severe eosinophilic asthma. This type of asthma generally begins in adults rather than children and does not represent an allergy in the traditional sense. People suffering with this type of lung disease demonstrate elevated levels of circulating white blood cells known as eosinophils.
Benefits include moderate control of asthma for most affected individuals with some demonstrating significant improvement while others receive only minimal assistance. The drug is injected once a month just under the skin by a health care practitioner.
Currently a feeding frenzy exists with regard to asthma therapies. With less profit in the standard inhalers, many pharmaceutical companies are pursuing pricier alternatives. Among the currently available options are Nucala, Fasenra, Cinqair, Xolair and Dupixent with many more anxiously waiting in the wings for final FDA approval.
All of these drugs offer some advantages over the traditional inhaled therapies for those experiencing difficult to control eosinophilic asthma of at least moderate intensity. It needs to be kept in mind that none of these medicines are meant to be used by themselves. None will combat acute attacks of asthma.
Nucala’s cash price for 28 days of therapy is about $5200 or about $185 a day. Within the past eight months the price increased more than 10%. GSK, the drug company responsible for Nucala enjoys worldwide sales of more than $100,000,000.00 a day.

I was on Prednisone at a hundred mg everyday for a year as soon as I got my nucala shot you could feel the difference I've been off steroids now for four years and haven't been to the hospital either what a great drug

I started Nucala a week ago and so far.. I am not better. I am also taking 2 inhalers and prednisone.. I was diagnosed with asthma a week ago and I am 49y.. SMH. I am also dealing with sinuses since last year … it is just insane. My eosinophils count is ridiculously high… I hope to get better soon because this is affecting my daily life. The worse for me is the fact that no doctors seem to know what are the causes of my sinuses and asthma… the roots of those issues. No family history. Anyway, wish u all well. Better health!! ❤️

I have an immune deficiency Igg subclass 2&4. Infections every 4-6 weeks for 50 years. It went undiagnosed until 9 years ago. Antibiotics & prednisone to back up the infection. My incredible Dr. decided to put me on Nucala for high eosinophils. WOW, I’ve been taking Nucala for a year and have only been on antibiotics once. It’s changed my life! My everyday horrid headaches are completely gone, my gums are a nice healthy pink, instead of swollen purple/red. I’m not producing green/infection. I’m living my best life!🎉 It’s an incredible drug!!!!

I’m trying to get this I’m going through the insurance process right now. I’m having asthma attacks everyday. I’m on 5mg prednisone and steroid inhalers, and I happen to be allergic to steroids. I have to take Benadryl to control the allergic rash outbreak.😫
