Thanks so much for showing us the memorial! It looks like a very emotional but healing place to visit. One of the worst museum experiences I ever had was visiting the WWII museum in New Orleans - they have a film that towards the end suddenly includes a "simulation" of what it was like to experience the bomb - the room goes dark, sucking wind sweeps through, etc. - which is immediately followed by a friggin picture of Uncle Sam surrounded by U.S. flags basically going "and they saved the day!" with absolutely no discussion of the bombing whatsoever. It was so upsetting.
@flyingthenest
@flyingthenest 7 жыл бұрын
Oh geez, that sounds like a museum done in poor taste. They should experience this museum to see the horrors of what the bomb was actually like, not praising that they won because of it.

Imagine the alternative. An invasion of all the Japanese Islands. With their warrior society they would've never given up, just like at Iwo Jima, Okinawa, or any of their possessions. Imagine every male left in Japan and who knows how many females fighting to the death. We would've had to kill MILLIONS of them. Let that sink in, MILLIONS. Those two bombs were the best thing that EVER happened to Japan.

The Japanese population in 1945 was roughly 70 million. It was entirely plausible that they might've lost up to half their population in an invasion. Remember that they are a warrior society at this time and do not surrender. But, what if something came along that would kill roughly 300,000 and terrify them enough to surrender? 300,000 in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, to save tens of millions and an entire culture? Not to mention an estimated million casualties for the Allies.

I, as Japanese, were taught by so many never to repeat and I hope people can understand even a little bit how serious the attacks were. So thank you for sharing your journey (pica-chu made me giggle and wipe off my tears)!

Just a kind feedback, it would be really great for the material of the vlogs if ypu also do some background reading on the history of the place you visit , in case of historical places and mentioning it in your vlogs. That could provide a content other than seeing the place .

@brucehur2051

japan say dokdo is korean territory Hosaka Yuji, a Japanese professor on the Studies of Korean History, has expressed his concern on the bleaching of the Japanese education on History, adding "Japan Should Put an End to Its Distortion and Concealment of Dokdo Issues and Emerge as an Honest Nation." He expressed critically on the issue of Dokdo (Liancourt Islands) by pointing at the Dakojan Order of 1877, and the Isotakeshima map, both of which were Japanese-made scripts that specified Dokdo clearly as a Korean territory. In 2008, the union of social studies teachers’ in Hokkaido released a statement acknowledging that “Dokdo is Korean territory as stated by the Koreans”, followed by the statement by social studies teachers’ union of Tokyo in September 2009 noting that “There is no proof that Dokdo is Japanese territory.” Teachers of social studies in Japan seem to have gone so far as to conduct their own investigation on Korea’s viewpoint, having employed Japanese social studies textbooks which say that “Dokdo is Japanese territory.” As a result, they have begun to think of Dokdo as Korean territory. They refer to the Dajokan Order of 1877 as the first evidence to prove that Dokdo is Korean territory. The Ministry of Home Affairs of Japan at the time advised against the incorporation of Dokdo into Shimane Prefecture on the grounds that “We must not arouse the suspicion amongst the superpowers that Japan harbors the ambition to gobble up Korea by seizing the barren rocks [Dokdo] where not a blade of grass grows and which are considered as belonging to Korea.” For example, Japanese ships which have operated around Ulleungdo collected mainly fisheries such as abalone and agar as per the Agreement between Joseon- Japan forged at the end of the 19th century. However, there are records which prove that the Japanese went as far as Dokdo in search of abalone when the catch was low. There are Japanese records which state that otaridae hindered the fishermen’s activities when they were collecting abalone. The Japanese sent the abalone to Ulleungdo where they were processed and exported to Japan. The fact that Ulleungdo administrative chief levied export tax upon these fishermen can be confirmed through the official records of Japanese Pusan Consulate. These are proofs strongly substantiating the fact that Korea in the latter part of the 19th century ruled over Ulleungdo and Dokdo. Tax collection is a distinct form of exercising one’s sovereignty over its territory. Thus, Dokdo was not terra nullius before 1905 because it had an owner, namely Korea. This completely annuls Japan’s claim of sovereignty over Dokdo based upon its 1905 “occupation of ” terra nullius. The island of Dokdo carries as much significance in the minds of Koreans as the whole of the Korean peninsula. The Japanese invasion which started with Dokdo engulfed the entire peninsula as a result of which Koreans have lost everything. The dispossessed Koreans under Japanese imperialism had to face all kinds of exploitation in the form of suppression, forced labor, sexual slavery of women, forced military conscription to warfare while resistance fighters faced gruesome death during imprisonment. Such pains were caused from having lost sovereignty over its land. Another claim of the Japanese is which “The US Department of State turned down Korea’s request to include Dokdo within the Treaty articles relating to Korea’s territorial sovereignty when the San Francisco Peace Treaty was being drafted in July 19, 1951. Korea nevertheless declared the Seungman Rhee Line (Peace line) and has been illegally occupying Dokdo to this day.” The conclusion of the San Francisco Peace Treaty was that Dokdo was marked neither as a Japanese nor as a Korean territory. However, It is misrepresenting a US view as if it is shared by all the other signers of the San Francisco Peace Treaty. It is true that the US had made a strategic attempt to make Dokdo into Japanese territory. However, that was the view of just the US and there were many other states among the Allied Powers which strongly asserted that Dokdo is part of Korean territory. The sole view of the US without the consensus of the Allied Powers does not constitute the conclusion of the San Francisco Peace Treaty. Japan argues that Korea declared the Seungman Rhee Line thus initiating an illegal occupation of the island even after it became a Japanese territory, but the Japanese argument does not hold as no evidence exists that under the San Francisco Peace Treaty that Dokdo is Japanese territory. Furthermore the Comfort Women issue is of no difference, where documents such as the Jisudae Ilgi from 1938, where it specifies an order to all Japanese polices and security-based militants to keep sexual slavery and related activities as a secret due to the issue of the nation's dignity. Further documents in which is currently stored in the Naju Museum of Gyeonggi-do (img.seoul.co.kr/img/up load/2012/08/29/SSI_2012082918 2827_V.jpg) states a recommendation to participate in sexual activities with their local woman, and another document in which was discovered at the Mandalay Region of Myanmar (img.seoul.co.kr/img/up load/2012/08/29/SSI_2012082918 2848_V.jpg) also indicates that the Japanese militants were recording down the price of purchasing each woman. The further discovery of a comfort women scandal was investigated by the Government of Dutch Indonesia (img.seoul.co.kr//img/u pload/2012/08/29/SSI_201208291 82917.jpg) where it judiciates the actions of Japanese militants enforcing a stressed sexual slavery secretly in the Sakura Club. Japan needs to acknowledge the Truth, as tons of historical and legal evidences awaits.
