at 15:10, It is said that fission and fusion reactions can cause huge fire .If that is the situation,then if any of our nuclear power stations experiences something wrong with the process,will the explosion of fire cause damage to the whole world as it is very huge?

lol no not to that extent. It will cause a great damage tho and the cities nearby will have to be evacuated.

Fusion Process is actually being implemented at ITER reactor, it consumes 50 MW and releases 500 MW output power. It will be switch on very soon

I've been doing this at degree level, but I really enjoy your videos whatever level they are pitched at! They are very very good!

Is there any conductor that can hold up to 1 million amps? wouldn't that melt also?

Can you clarify a point: if H is ionized and becomes H+ + e- and then P => N + e+ and e- + e+ annihilates, and then 2P +2N = He, then isn't that He-- ? where does that He get its electrons from (I guess it can take two e- from the result of the ionization of the H, but won't there be a lack of e- for this to be sustainable ?)

+Hemmeligt Navn When describing fusion we usually concentrate only on the nuclear part. All this has to take place at very high temps where orbital electrons have long since gained enough energy to overcome the binding energy barrier (work function). When the whole plasma cools sufficiently the helium nucleus will capture electrons that just happen to be flying around.

Maybe I missed something, but I have a question. Why the sun(the ball full of protons) is maiking neutrons? I mean, what is the process that involves this change, what causes this?
@jakemanning6235

I'm fairly sure it's not fusion which creates the neutrons inside the core of a star, it's electron capture; in which, an electron collides with a proton, to create a neutron and an electron neutrino (and that's where the neutrinos are coming from inside a star). This allows for the extra fusion.

Jake Manning I see, neutron is formed if proton collides with electron, but how electrons are present in there if it's a ball of protons?(as mentioned in video)

anomin89 I think it's that there are still electrons in the star itself, but due to the heat, the hydrogens have ionised into plasma, so the electrons are delocalised, and free to float around the whole structure of the star - then they collide with protons at the core of the star, where the pressure is great, (would also make sense as the sun has intense magnetic fields which could only be there if electrons were moving around quickly inside the star). DrPhysicsA, could you confirm?

It is caused by the weak interaction.

So if fission and fusion are opposites of each other and if one produces energy, shouldn't the other consume it ? WHat about conservation of energy ?

Neutrons are neutral, then what is problem there to produce neutron - neutron nuclear reaction? Reply please
@nazifishrak03
@nazifishrak03 5 жыл бұрын
NANDA BALLABH PANT The nucleus joins together not the neutrons separately. the nucleus contains both neutrons and protons. So overall even if neutrons are neutral the nucleus is still positively charged due to the protons. Hence it is still hard to get them together

Great videos, but just a little nit pick, you should use capital M for 1 Million Amps (as in 1 MA) instead of lowercase m (it looked like you wrote 1 milliAmp). :)

If mass defects to energy in a nuclear reaction and the sun keeps on releasing energy continuously everyday. Does it means the Sun is getting lighter in mass everyday???
