As an electrician, the control logic on these weapons are good old analog relay and switching logic loops to me. Super-simple.

Arming switches in the cockpit close the arming circuit. Teleflex cables were used as one last interlock between B36s and B52s with the old Mark 14 thermonuclear bombs. You hear James Earl Jones talking through the arming sequence in Dr. Strangelove.

Implosion triggers for Tac-Nukes. It's a little more complicated for thermonuclear warheads.

That sounds like "actor" Richard Carlson narrating this?? This was a good film.

"Despite recent fiction to the contrary..." I assume that's a reference to the movie (or book?) Fail Safe.

Possibly more so the book "Red Alert" by Peter George. Stanley Kubrick's "Dr. Strangelove" was based on this novel. The authors of the book "Fail Safe" were actually sued by Mr. George for copyright infringement.

Man, just send people from modern hackerspace back into the past with at least one LockPickingLawyer and the controls would be hilarious to see in the past.

I suspect it was referring to the somewhat less well-known but perhaps more realistic film 'Fail Safe'. Both were released the same year and both were excellent.
