I am in no way a genius like him but Tuomas is like me in the sense of needing solitude to really use his imagination and open up his mind to write. When I was living in the most rural village on the Isle Of Wight I used to walk for miles over cliffs, fields and forgotten little forts and then sit for a picnic. An the things that came out my head were awesome. I was a relatively amateur writer but it made me happy. Then I had to move into town where I'm surrounded by building sites, built up traffic and vandalism, which tends to constipate one's mind. Haven't written anything for over four years.

I compose songs for my band and write short stories as a hobby and the best way to get into the mood of writing and arranging stuff is to be alone, preferably for many days in a remote place, even though it is not usually possible for me. So, I understand why Tuomas needs his alone time when making new music, it helps to keep your mind focused and calm and to let the imagination fly.

I love nightwish, and have been down many holes where I have ONLY listened to them for months. Not gonna lie though, the gear head in me was strong. I saw Genelec before I saw the band's name, and was like "Hey that's Tuomas and Marco in this Genelec video" *Edit* So, I was sitting there singing along with the songs not realizing that this was for Imaginaerium. This whole thing makes a lot more sense now....except now I'm disappointed there's not another film coming out.

@babyamylu The band received audition tapes and ultimately had a unanimous vote with Olzon as the new singer. It was really a mixture of chance and her persistence, since she was denied the position initially. And it's not that Anette is a bad singer; she's just a rock singer instead of an opera singer. There's of course going to be a difference in her capabilities, hence why she can't sing Nightwish songs prior to DDP as Tarja could.

There are several classically trained soprano opera singers; the only thing that made Tarja special was she helped pioneer Symphonic Metal. If you still want to listen to Tarja and only Tarja, she has a solo career now, and she's doing pretty well. There's really no need to continue the "Nightwish sucks without Tarja" shit anymore.

It's a great thing that nightwish continues to do good music, with or without Tarja, and don't get me wrong - I like Tarja, but it's still nightwish without her, and her things are good as well. I hope they will release something new soon :-). Until then, you can try listening to: Capricia - Recline in the Fire or Capricia - Melodic Scream Might like it too ;-)
