LYRICS I have never felt so fucking numb. In front of the mirror with a loaded gun. Every word you read is stained in blood. This gets sick cause I'm mind-fucked. I've died and my body turned to rust. An empty carcass left to rot back to dust. Like a casket in a shallow grave Out of sight, but I promise it will never go away. These words may sound all the same. I have bled to death on every page. Watch as my heart turns to stone. Watch me die without hope. I don't want to break your heart with mine. Everything I know about life is a lie. This is what I feared the most. Wanting love but chasing ghosts. And it won't matter when I forget your name. You know exactly what I am, and you know I love the pain. Remember my words but forget my face. Every fucking scar screams your name. Remember my words but forget my face. Every fucking scar screams your name. [2x] And it won't matter when I forget your name. You know exactly what I am, and you know I love the pain. Remember my words but forget my face. Every fucking scar screams your name. I have never felt so fucking numb. In front of the mirror with a loaded gun. Every word you read is stained in blood. This gets sick cause I'm mind-fucked These words may sound all the same, I have bled to death on every page. Watch as my heart turns to stone. Watch me die without Hope. This, Oceano, Thy Art is Murder and maybe a couple other bands define what is good deathcore. Technicality, vocal range, good riffs. Hate it when Deathcore bands just try to drop their guitars to the lowest possible tune and just chug.

This is literally my first time listening to Carnifex, and it is just fucking magnificent. Been listening to metal since middle school. Started out with classic metal, then moved on to bands like Chimaira, Trivium, Machine Head, Within the ruins, and many others Always knew who Carnifex was, but never gave them a chance for some stupid reason. I think it was because I just wasn't ready, Deathcore/Death metal just didn't seem like my kind of stuff at the time because I considered myself still fairly new to metal overall. After hearing this, I definitely want to hear more. I want to hear so much fucking more...

I think carnifex is starting on the path to becoming a death metal band. If it wasn't for the bits of chugging and the breakdown this would be Death Metal.

I was just thinking that too, and honestly I really appreciate that they aren't just your average chuggy deathcore band. These guys are pretty great.
@alexburke527310 жыл бұрын
***** Well a lot of people really care about instrumentation, and I think we can agree that there isn't much of that in deathcore, with their one note fests, as opposed to a band like Necrophagist with their incredible riffing.
@alexburke527310 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah I completely understand, but I was just giving one example why someone might care about it. :)
@bretbuckley70410 жыл бұрын
Implying there are Death metal bands that doesn't utilize breakdowns and chug riffs either? I don't understand your logic. If a death metal band uses chuggy breakdowns it's "brutal" because they are by whatever standards, a "proper" death metal band...yet it's sinful for a Deathcore band that utilizes the same thing in a manner that is no different or any more frequent, "OH NO! it's a shitty breakdown, this band is not proper metal." But in the end, who gives a shit what it is? I've heard good Deathcore, and I've heard bad Deathcore. I've heard good Death metal and bad Death metal as well (YES sucky death metal exists too, deal with it. if not sucky, imo, just boring). I've heard bands from both that were pretty competent in terms of musical delivery. Just because it's "death metal" by whatever standards doesn't necessarily justify it's worth over its competitor.
@DragonKnightX1210 жыл бұрын
Bret Buckley That is a good point, there alot of good bands from both genres. My biggest problem is one they both share, I'm not really fond of the generic murder and rape lyrics alot of bands of both genres come up with, I like the ones that write about other stuff and think outside that box.

klunymaster must agree there, the main reason ive never been a big fan of carnifex is just the lack of production, it takes skill to get a voice like this to fit with the rest of the sonic blast carnifex gives us

What are you talking about? Their first three albums are some of the best deathcore/metal I've ever heard. They certainly are heavier than this one,too.

What the hell do you guys mean by death core or metal core.....its Metal that's all that matters.... seriously, people on the internet try to define bands in to 100 genres that are all the same color. Looks like Paris Hilton defining the different shades of pink nail polish.
@maxkiel571410 жыл бұрын
It gives so much genres cuz the bands sound different.. and this is deathcore/death-metal.. nothing more to say. U cant say Heavy Metal is the same like Deathcore..
@scottsw2510 жыл бұрын
But i know theyre all metal, and thats all i need to know....ridiculous that people argue over sub genres
@conflicttv11539 жыл бұрын
It is because people who listen to metal types that have been around for ages like to criticize the newer genres. Believe it or not, Death Metal took some hate from earlier genres, but now Death Metal fans are hating on Deathcore bands. I find it pretty funny seeing as I like whatever shit I here, not needing to think about the genre, but Deathcore is ruined by many shit bands.
@dabears71559 жыл бұрын
genres help us find other similar bands. that's all theyre there for but people are so fuckin stupid they've turned it into something to rage about.

@just2pissuoff354R10 жыл бұрын
They do now since WC released that boring and ever so by the book "Our Endless War". Before that I'd say it was a damn close race. As for SS, with the exception of "No Pity for a Coward" they're pretty fucking terrible!
@jorenvanhaverbeke928210 жыл бұрын
just2pissuoff354R well i do agree with whitechapel xp there album is fucking boring and SS 'cease to exist' is boring aswell xp carnifex is probably the best of the 3 in every way :p he uses screams alot but it doesn't so stupid like from SS xp carnifex isn't the ordinair deathcore :p

I do agree with Suicide Silence because "Cease to Existence" was boring, but Whitechapel.... No way, man, "Our Endless War" is probably the greatest album of 2014 (in my opinion) due to the lyrics and the emotion Phil puts into them. "Die Without Hope" is a great album and it's one of my favourites, the lyrics are well-written and I could easily relate to a lot of Scott has written, but still it's nothing compared to Whitechapel. Each to their own, though!
