B-32's trained at Libby Army Airfield and Palominas Army Airfield, Ft. Huachuca, AZ. They were Consolidated's answer to the B-29, built largely in competition and as a backup in case the B-29 failed(pretty disastrous engine fires during development). The B-32 seemed like an extension of the B-24 but was an entirely new aircraft. Some features of B-24N like the single tail and nose turret were very simular. Most were scheduled to go to the 5th Air Force in the Southwest Pacific but I don't recall if they ever received any before the end of the war. They were not deployed in any great number. "Butter my butt and call me a biscuit?" Never heard that one before.

It's clear that the Allies are winning, else the Bulletin would not have shown any of the lost or damaged aircraft so calmly, nor divulged capacities, speeds, and methods so fully, notwithstanding the restricted audience. This is quite informative, bringing a living understanding of a moment in history.

I'd love to know who composed and performed the orchestra music at certain intervals. And any known compositions that were used, too! Unsung artists!

So a twin engined C-47 can tow two gliders, but a four engined Stirling can only tow one, odd.

Only because the British gliders, both types, carried considerably more in payload than their American counterparts, both had their pros and cons and were extremely valuable assets to the airborne forces.

As i recollect from reading's of The B-32, it was not up to the standards of the B-29, and not many were built...and was a backup plane, if the '29 failed. Thanks.

This is quite possibly an element of disinformation at this stage of the war.

@@luvr381 The disinformation was in regard to the deployment mentioned in the film. I have no objection to his other comments. The B-32 was basically a development of the B-24 Liberator / Privateer lineage.

@@@luvr381 Thanks. I don't think there were any conspiracies as related to the B-32, vs the B-29. However, the face off between the Mosquito and the P-61 Black widow WAS a conspiracy of sorts, in 1944. Now that is an interesting story. if anyone is interested, I can relate it as best as I recollect. Thanks Ender and Alan. PS...Alan may have some info that would be interesting to hear.
