When we had this topic in school i asked how does it work and why can some of those things happen, teacher didnt know so this was realy nice and im thankful. Its important to understand not just learn it by hard.

I'm investigating OFM . I was able to test a "secret" friction reducer and it reminded me exactly of a type of oil that was employed in tires and other places where less rolling resistance was desired. The person that opened the used bottle to me swears by the product but can't find anything out from online research. I searched the product for a couple hours and I couldn't find anything either. Nothing substantial. It just smelled like a type of synthetic ester I've been aware of but without much knowledge. So you have a carboxylic acid and an alcohol and you react them to form an ester and water. Anyway that one smell will probably tell me all about it as soon as I get done researching. I tried rubbing a sample between my fingers and it is extremely slick and I'm sure is some kind of polar charged. In essence it will reduce friction because it will adhere to metal and probably other kinds of surfaces. Now will it do what the product promises? IDK. It might but I'd be interested in how they tested it because the biggest problem with those tests is they don't tell enough about the control group. It's the same problem comparing any engine oil to another in the short term of a couple hundred thousand miles. Ok..I plugged in my suspicion a minute later after watching this and I already know I'm 100% valid. It's definitely an organic friction modifier and it's definitely polar and I just recognized it wouldn't be a good mix with bright stock oil formulas and anywhere sulfur might still be in much play. So it's possible with a group 2+ and higher oil it might be effective.. how effective? IDK. *With bright stock it would actually reduce any effects plus probably cause the base oil additives issues. That's probably why they suggested it not be used with any other additives. Since it's ester based it's not going to be as effective if at all where you have any coolant contamination.

Regarding nonpolar molecules cohesion - these moments of electrons moving from one area to another must be synchronized in order for the attraction to be permanent, correct? If so, does this synchronization happens after some time, or is this somehow always in sync like some world clock is doing that to all molecules?

how did we figure this stuff out, like oh my god you are telling me my body is made of a magnetic liquid created by tiny particles that have little merry go rounds inside of them that somehow want to be together really bad? if the van der waals force forms only in polar molecules and in special occasions, how do we have other objects? that must be tons of molecules sticking together? is that some other force?
