I keep getting amazed by how good the condition this tractor is. Well done, I thought the castle nut would have been seized right on. Yup get the pad seated into that drum and your off to a plow match, well the pub at least. You won't plow into that I hope lol.

Actually so do I.......it looked ok when I first saw it, except for a few bits. As you know it's been fighting me......has it submitted.....well it has today.......jobs list getting shorter :) Very soon making the box, the one I'm looking forward to.

If it were me trying to do these jobs, I wouldn't have any skin left on my knuckles by now. I'm working my way through the Nuffield saga, hoping I haven't missed any installments. Good job done Malc ... interesting arrangement ,,, i presume the breaks are on a shaft geared to the main axle ,,, never noticed tractor brakes in the past ,,,,,

Thanks Alan - first job that's gone ok. Yes they are geared to the back axle. Only job so far that has gone ok, except for the stuck drum. Changed the fuel filter today. That went ok but got a bit of air in. While bleeding it the battery went flat, so had to hump it off again to charge it......then it rained lol. Anyway another job to cross off the list. Oh, they made a list today and pinned it to the wall lol.

Looks like it has been fitted with bonded linings at some stage in its life. De glazing the shoes works too sometimes.

Yes it's had modern linings. One drum was ok, but the right one had almost 1/6th of crud I ground off. Always have to de glaze my shoes on my car each year for some grip. These weren't too bad, but having no internal adjusters, will never be brilliant. They actually work quite well though for what they are. Really pulled the tractor down in 3rd gear, engine was working hard (ish). But I'm glad there is still that amount of lining left. Was expecting worse. Pedal shaft was well greased, but sticking near the top. Plenty of penetrating oil soon lubed it.

I followed the video thanks as it was a great starting help . Does the complete brake unit simply come off if the circlip is removed or is there more to it

Making good process buddy ! Are you're brake levers split like mine on my Massey ? Independent brake control per side ? Lockable for both at the same time ?

Yes, independent brakes locked with a lever. Biggest problem was everything is very worn. Very easy to adjust once I get them bedded in. In fact pressing either the right or left brake pedal should be enough to get even braking. I did just drive forward and backwards a few times, pressing the brakes. In forward didn't stall, but did make it work hard.
