Nugget Detecting Secret #7 Its about that gold that you you find, not what you miss.

In prospecting, it’s not about the gold you miss, it’s about the gold you find. Remember, the gold you find is in your pocket, the gold you miss is still in the ground. Gold still in the ground does you no good. This is an advanced lesson - it may not be obvious and requires thought. Everyone who prospects has come near and for whatever reason missed gold. Yet getting discouraged, giving up is the No. 1 reason guys miss gold. Successful prospecting is about the gold you find. Don’t just always go to the same place to search. You may well eke out some more gold you previously missed at your old spot, but going over and over to the same place even though you are not getting much is a bad idea. Don’t accept endless crumbing around. New exploration is tough, but gold does not grow back. Prospecting the unknown is difficult, yet getting out and exploring has the greater potential. Learning gives you confidence, commitment gives you persistence and focus gives you determination.

@@ChrisRalph Yes I agree and actually some of the biggest nuggets have been found fairly recently in Alaska and MT which is a morale boost. Most of the areas I hunt the old timers did pretty good but I’m quick to get off and on to new ground.

I spent most of my time there in late 1970s. I didn't have a metal detector and they were not really as good as they are now. Bird shot is non-ferrous (98% of the time) and cannot be discriminated out. You can only discriminate things made of iron.

They also glow you know with regular light on them Orange but they're like a clear White Rock but when I shine the light on I'm going to put them in a light it reflect you know that they're Orange

Normally no, places with iron ore do not have gold but once in a while, the iron places do have gold.

I just figure go out and have fun, get some exercise, see a part of the country. Just pay attention to your advice and it might be a little more profitable, and if not there's always the next time. Besides some trash isn't trash. They don't make square nails anymore, put them on a board for decorations with some old bar wire or a horseshoe. Besides you can get money for iron also just take a lot more for an small payday..
