That file was reheated and tempered to make a knife blade. A good file will break if bent like that one is. Files are great for making knives but they have to be tempered to make a knife blade that doesn’t break easily. Great finds, especially that Spanish coin.

Lots of folks don’t realize that pockets on trousers/pants were a luxury that a lot of folk didn’t have back in the day and so they would put holes in coins and utilize cords hold their money or they would have a pouch they would tie onto something to hold their coinage and personal affects.

If I may make a suggestion, Nugget. You should start carrying a couple of small brushes, to help you clean things off with, instead of rubbing things on your pants. When you find coins especially, you could be scratching or devaluing them by rubbing them with your fingers or on your pants. Happy hunting.!!!

Lovely finds, that French coin you have there is napoleon the 3rd, I found one in my garden from 1854, his coins date from the early 1850s to 1870.

KZbin is Deleting every NEW Subscriber I gain. They have been doing this since late 2019 / early 2020. I can see it in my Analytics . Every month I gain and lose the exact same amount of subs. For example: If I gain 2,500 new people, by end of month I'll lose 2,500 subs and = 0 GAINED. It's absolutely unreal, and I cannot explain it. This is not normal. I can't get to 1 million because youtube won't let me. When 20 new people subscribe, they take away 20 other old accounts from years ago, and it keeps me in this 1 step forward 2 steps back phase.

The first "blade" is definitely a blade. A file would not bend. Files are hardened. It would snap before bending.
