One thing forgot to mention: Best practice is to "re-distort" your Imageplanes / Card3Ds, so that they will have the proper distortion matching the original footage when you merge or grade them back over. This is the same practice as any other CG object / texture being added to a scene.

Thank you for these tools. I'm glad to know that there's a nice alternative to the PointsTo3D node. Nukepedia is wonderful, but it has so much to offer that it's hard to filter through. Can you use PixelsToPos to make multiple reference 3D Axis points and then deform a card to match the tree surface?

Definitely, that's how I would approach it if you need more fidelity out of it. Usually when I build out scene geometry I will create multiple of these reference points, and then move into Maya and just snap vertices to those points. You could definitely just bend a card though in Nuke for a quick solution(in a normal card settings there is a thing you can turn on to deform the geo).

Hey, Alex, going through your NK202 course and have this problem doing the 3d camera beach project: When I try to get the grid over my footage in the viewer (with Stack > Over) it doesn't work, Stack/Under allows me to see the grid behind the footage but when I do stack/over i just see the point cloud. I'm so stumped, any thoughts? I'm using your project file and I can't recreate it even with your nodes. I'm looking through the camera as well.

Hey Chris, If you have any questions shoot it through the Udemy messaging platform, as its easier for me to manage over there! Thanks
