Personally, I find SKS Tactical S tier. Historic kit puts it instantly on A, fast fire rate and possibility to use 30 round mags (upgraded original) is the best of all snipers, if you upgrade it to high fire rate and recoil control, you have a beam. Then Scopes, as said in video, takes pretty much all good scopes, a big plus is being able to switch it to iron sight (Tactic variant), so you can have long range scope and close quarter "DMR" for all the situations, I can even count times that it saved me when someone left the corner and was instantly shot 6 times with powerful rounds. It has a cheap silencer that makes it stealth viable. After all of this, it can be rechambered into a 7.62x54 round, making it viable to late mid-game. Overall, you can get it very early into the game (swaps is a good place). Shoot it like a DMR both long and close range (due to big choice of cheap scopes and a quick scope change mechanic), use cheap starting game round that is very strong actually (craftable with green powder). Then rechamber it to higher tier and use it till late mid-game, until you get the calibration kit and use the late game weapons. That said, yes it is not the most powerful gun in the game, far from that, but it is one of the most versatile guns both in terms of game progression and game style. Easy to get hands on, easy to repair and easy to play with. Definitely S+ tier

The Steyr Scout is STUPID good, the ridiculous muzzle velocity means you can bink dudes from very long distance with little to no lead. This translates to more 1-shot kills when they're moving around eratically. Just make sure you're using the AP rounds and you can even kill guys wearing Exo helmets

I love SKS tactical. Having a semi auto gun with 20 round magazine, suppressor and decent scopes (I personally love the Hyperion scope mounting on it - it's surprisingly low and ergonomic) that requires only Historic kit is really cool. Though somehow 7,62x39 feels like it's less powerful than 5,45 (at least for me) so I prefer my SKS with 7,62x54 upgrade. I don't think that's technically possible in real life, but in the game I think it's one of the best ammo types, especially considering you can craft decent AP round with basic bullets and another variety with more penetration with AP bullets.

Love the SKS as well! And to anwer your ammo type question, funny enough the original SKS was actually designed to take 7.62x54 round but never succeeded in this caliber due to multiple complications and problems with the SKS platform itself; in a way the round was just too powerful. Problems were later fixed by adopting to 7.62x39 :).

Note in general. The tier list is there to be populated throughout the whole list. If you put half of the guns in one tier and another 1/4th in another there's not much granularity in them imho. You know, like, which one is the best if there are no bad ones sort of thing.

Just a stat check tier list. Things can be improve. IMO Availability. Ammo price.weight??. Scope uses .. Sks is my go to weapon mid game. Easy chain head shots. Will drop anyone in a heartbeat. Deer hunter is tacticol.

One thing of note about the Saboteur is that its basically a silenced urbana so it gets extra damage over the regular and, not entirely sure about this but it feels this way at least, the degradation isn't as effected compared to other snipers that need a silencer attached.

If you're playing EFP instead of Gamma, though, the Mosin-Nagant would be bumped up to B or even A tier for one simple factor: It's relatively quick to reload and doesn't use magazines. Magazines are an important factor in EFP, and you'd kind of prefer your limited magazine slots (not to mention having to top up said magazines) for your close-mid range weapon than a weapon you can take your time with.

In this mod, any assault rifle is better than sniper rifles. I do not understand why standard 5.45 ammunition has the same penetration as, for example, 7.62* 54 and at the same time they cost much more. I tried to clean Limansk from a Monolith with a Remington 700 with BR6 ammunition and gave up this idea because these ammunition did not penetrate even MEDIUM armor well, and they cost more than 10,000 rub for 15 rounds.

6:20 Why can't they just replace the straight-bolt infantry model with a curved-bolt sniper model? Then it could have two different reloads depending on the presence or absence of a scope. With no scope, you reload with stripper clips. With a scope, you single-load it. The Mauser Kar98k should work the same way. In fact, the Mauser Kar98k DID work exactly like that in Oblivion Lost 2010, which also had both the infantry and sniper variants of the Mosin-Nagant (the infantry one being loaded with stripper clips and the sniper one being single-loaded). I don't understand why an older mod gets this right while a newer mod gets it wrong. Once a thing is done right, that's how it should be done all the time. That's how standards are supposed to get set and maintained. Otherwise, we're backsliding into idiocy. Or maybe I just have a Duty-like mindset when it comes to stuff like this. 6:36 The PU scope being mounted "scout" style is only necessary due to the straight bolt. In Oblivion Lost 2010, it made sense that the Lewis Gun and the BAR - along with the Mauser Kar98k and both Mosin-Nagant variants - were chambered for 7.62x54R because it's an indigenous caliber. Minor fun fact, there was a bug I reported and got fixed related to the sr-25 a year or two ago. I think the effect, iirc, was that scopes would apply their weight negatively instead of positively making the rifle lighter instead of heavier.

I literally just watched the whole tier list playlist yesterday and the day before, I thought I was going nuts when I saw it in my recommended lol. How do you make the distinction between a full auto DMR and a sniper rifle? I just fixed up an SR-25 to run with an SV98 in place of my old AK, is it just a matter of caliber?

not a direct comparison, but in simple terms -- an AK would be best mid to close range due to overall stats (mag size, first shot accuracy, fire rate not so much, sometimes an underbarrel GL) compared to a DMR - in this case the SR-25, would be better long to mid range; higher caliber, lower mag size, higher accuracy, no GL most of the time but exceptions exist. a similar comparison in the same caliber would be the groza (OC-14-4A) compared to the VSS Vintorez. stats and caliber can always vary and overlap. I like to think of it more as a designation by use case.

I'm on my first playthrough of GAMMA and the tactical SKS is my main weapon alongside the M1911 and SPAS-12. I use the SKS as more of a close to long range weapon because I found a suppressor for it and bought a 1x-10x scope.

1:21 I'd wish Urbana was a little bit better, since .308 Federal is somehow NOT armorpiercing enough, which impacts your performance against armored stalkers significantly. Urbana has choice between AP and FMJ rounds, so it comes in handy in terms in versatility. Sadly, lacking silencer also is a sighnificant impact

I think you're sleeping on the sks tactical. It's repaired with historical kits, all the parts are shared with the starting sks meaning it's very easy to get one in working condition even without tools, it has a great selection of scopes, good firerate, a large mag size, and it can be upgraded to fire 7.62x54. Meaning you can essentially get a better SVD with just basic tools. It's a fantastic rifle that can get you all the way through the whole map. Its only weaknesses in my eyes are the kind of slow reload speed and the fact that there's no 8x scope with a 45 degree sight kit available for it, meaning you're gonna have to manually change sights in the middle of the fight. Other than that, fantastic weapon.

The sks and svt are not not a sniper rifles, the sks is an infantry rifle and the svt is a battle rifle, same with the mosin and mauser 98, they were originally just infantry rifles but over time they took on the "marksman/sniper" role

I will say that i was dissapointed with the SKS tactical, its recoil lends poorly to close range reflex optics, making it difficult to place quick and consistent shots in comparison to the SVDS (For example), making it difficult especially against moving targets- the 7.62x39 round is somewhat common and lethal, but ultimatley lacks when fighting monolith and Sin, which i the best test of power you can have for a gun

Since you can add and remove a scope at will, it should have a curved bolt. The straight-bolt version was the infantry version. The curved-bolt version was the sniper version. Oblivion Lost 2010 got that right by having one of each, both having upsides and downsides. The infantry model was used with iron sights and reloaded using 5-round stripper clips. The sniper model had a scope and was single-loaded. 6:37 I guess since the scope is mounted "scout" style (forward of the action), it's almost tolerable. Wouldn't be necessary if it had a curved bolt. Then it could be mounted back closer to the eye where it belongs. 7:28 In theory, it should be a really good mutant hunter's rifle, but I'm going to hazard a guess they screwed it over to make it less capable of doing that job. In regular-flavor Anomaly, it could accept a ye olde PU scope and was worthless garbage, somehow less effective than an SKS, and drastically less effective than the underrated Type 63. 7:44 Odd classification, but I'll go with it since Mordecai from the Borderlands saga is referred to as both a "sniper" and a "hunter." 7:56 If you want a scope on a levergun, get a Marlin. 8:09 I think you should go huntin' with that Winchester and try to nail snorks in the head with it. You need an exo powersupply, there are a few variant but they look similar to a backpack, and you need exo batteries. Just drag the exo powersupply on to equiped suit.

Brother in Christ, the SVT-40 takes the PU Scope. Also it has the added benefit that you always glance over is the fact that it has two aim modes, Scope and Iron sights. I noticed your clear Bias against Dove Mount Russian Scopes which most of them Allow you to also Aim down Iron Sight, which is a Godsend when you are suddenly a Bandit materializes in a Bush infront of you. That's why it baffles me how you give the Scout a A rating and then the Mosin a C. I get that it's a Opinion Piece but atleast take that into consideration.

@@notDinsss Idk I've been rocking the VSSK for a little while and with STS-130 it will more often than not one-tap any Stalker in full exo. Problem I've had is the FMJ ammo is cheap but is kinda mediocre. STS-130 can be hard to find enough AP to craft more than 20 at a time and I don't recall seeing any vendors that sell STS-130. So it's a weird spot for me, cause the FMJ can still do work and is quite cheap but the AP literally slaps. All in all if you can get over the slower fire rate it's great for ending fights before they even start. It's both economical and hard hitting when you need it to be, I think that's what I like best about it.

Snipers in real life- sit whole day or more without movement and wait for good opportunity to strike and relocate (and better to do it in one shot) And now there is a complain about fire rate? My man: this is a sniper rifle. It should be slow fire rate. If you want fast fire rate than take assault rifle or machinegun. But still great video keep it up champ

Snipers feel very useless in gamma. Usually they all have high recoil and don't kill on bodyshot,forcing you to hit headshots. (At that point why not just use an assault rifle?) And the snipers that are chambered in lower calibers,again, just use an assault rifle at that point. Most sniper rifles are really slow. Even if you prefer to engage an enemy from a long distance,they will still spot you and somehow perfectly retaliate with their assault rifles,so sniping doesnt really make you safe. Most sniper rifles are laughably bad at killing mutants. The only weapon that ignores all the above is the gauss rifle so...yeah. Just use an assault rifle.

I do have to disagree. Snipers allow you to kill targets at range, decreasing your chance of being shot at. This is extremly useful in Ironman runs.
