I get the Mastemon pick, but this assignment instantly made me think "what if Wizardmon survives and became Kari's second partner?" My line would probably be the (obvious) Wizardmon into Baalmon and DNA digivolve into Beelstarmon. For a similar reason I thought Andromon for Izzy (which would fit well with your mega level pick) and Numemon for Mimi (although this one is way weirder)

I like your take on things, but a few of the picks don't really fit in my opinion. Tk is innocent, but wants to be strong and protect others, so I see him with Knightmon's line. Having the crest of hope on his shield also makes me feel like he was probably considered for Tk at some point.

Great parings, fun video! T.K. has some official figures with Patamon and Demidevimon pulling his hat, when I saw that I though how cool of a story would be to have both of them as his partners, you took it next level with them Dna evolving into Lucemon! Though I gotta say, it feels a bit repetitive with Mastemon too, and I prefer the girls fighting against eachother xD Ladydevimon gives me more evil/villain vibes than NeoDevimon for some reason, I might be bias tho, Devimons are of my faves, alt universe good guy Devimon sounds so cool to me.

Awesome video! The second partners and DNA Mega forms were all really well thought out! I’ll list out some of my reactions/thoughts. - No notes on Tai, absolutely agree Dracomon needs to be a partner in the anime at some point. - Any reference to survive is an automatic win for me, and Merukimon/Mercurymon is a nice balance between Astamon and WereGarurumon. I do miss the more beastial Metalgarurumon as most megas tend to feel like humans in cosplay after a point, but that’s just personal preference. Maybe Fenriloogamon could’ve been my pick for the mega. - I agree with 100%, Sora could’ve been just as if not more effective a leader than Tai or anyone else. There was a petty good Fanfic I read called “The Song of Love” on AO3 that explores what might’ve happened if Tai and Matt didn’t go to the digital world with everyone else, leaving Sora as the leader. The first couple of chapters are shaky but it really gets going later on. Love Zhuqiaomon, my fav sovereign, no notes! - Love both of Izzy’s partners here, feels like a perfect mix of his characteristics: I do prefer TyrantKabuterimon here solely because it’s more beastial/monster-esk whereas MetallifeKuwagamon is another humanoid Mon, but again that’s just me. - Mimi’s is perfection, love what you did, her partners feel like they swap aesthetics halfway through their lines and I love that for them! - Joe’s partner is also amazing, though Divermon has never been one of my favs I do think his chimera/crossstitch look makes him match up with Zudomon nicely. Neptunemon is also awesome, though again feels like we have a lot of humanoid Megas in the group, but meh. - TK is my fav character and I love what you gave him! I love the idea that maybe everyone else gets a tad freaked out because this 8 year old has both an Uber-powerful angel and a terrifying devil protecting him, scary dog privilege to the max. Lucemon Chaos-mode feels good as the mega, though another idea I think could work would be if he gets Seraphimon still as his mega, but it could also switch to Shadow-Seraphimon, maybe showing which specific partner is in the drivers seat mentally, make him a little unhinged 😂. But Lucemon also fits that bill to, so no worries there. - Kari was just a straight up given she’d get Mastemon, who better honestly? You could do Meicoomon but then I don’t know what the DNA mega would be (Ordinemon feels a little too unhinged for Kari). Again, loved all of them despite any notes, amazing concept!

There was an old fan fic I remember reading back in the day based on exactly this premise, the original kids got separated and met a new group of eight digipals so they worked as little mini-teams while they eventually hooked back up. It was a cool concept but I remember being really underwhelmed at the time because the fan fic author chose to create completely new digimon from scratch. Nowadays I'd be more warm to that as its own creative premise but with digimon in general I always prefer trying to fit little thought experiments like this into the existing framework, because that framework has always been and will always be aboot flexibility and how each possibility has its own wide array of additional choices. I feel like if you can't make something out of all of the options digimon gives you, then you're just not very creative or clever. The one original digimon from that fic that I do remember really getting a kick out of was called "plush agumon," which is exactly what you think it is. As baffled as I was by the decision to invent such a thing when Toy Agumon already existed, I was so taken by the idea of a partner digimon who's entire growth line was defined by the toy aesthetic that I couldn't stay mad at it. Mind you, the toy thing was there since day 1 and in the form of the secret digimon no less, so long before Omegamon and Holy Angemon and "every dragon mon turns into a buff dude wearing armor" stuff, the TRUE sign of a digimon's ultimate power was if it was a creepy teddy bear worn by a shadowy unseen puppet master.

Thank you for using Salamon + love the re-color that you did of Salamon. I kind of disagree with you with the color swap Digimon keeping the same name I prefer that I like it when a Digimon is just called Black Agumon or Black Gatomon instead of giving them new names I prefer it when they reserve new names for new Digimon / new designs. and I do believe that in the anime they don’t call them black Tailmon or black Agumon cause in ghost game they were just called Tailmon Uver and Agumon they never called them by their colors.

If I could make one change, I would swap Devimon for Devidramon, and keep the rest of the lines. That way you can still have the Angemon v Devimon fight and have the NeoDevimon be a “renewed Devimon” that doesn’t have the hate in him that Devimon did.
