DJ Player on the iPad, iPhone or iPod touch supports the MixTrack Edge “plug and play” already. You can also “reverse” the crossfader or set it’s curve in this software. The next DJ Player update will come with a better and more “tight” factory mapping for this device.

Pritam Mendon Nothing special is required. Use a powered USB hub to connect, then DJ Player will automatically recognise it. If it doesn't (some iOS 8 devices has MIDI identification bugs), then select the appropriate factory mapping in DJ Player midi settings. You can do it in a few seconds. :-)

just pricked this up a couple of weeks ago. i haven't played with it much but i did notice right away the x-fade and the line fades are a bit too loose for my taste. other than that should work fine. thanks for the detail review.

I HAVE A QUESTION i have a Virtual DJ trial version in my Dell lopTop. It wont alow me to configure the wire connections for more than 10 min. You know... Like listening a song in my headphones while mixing a different one on the speakers... IF i buy this Numark controller, do i have to purchase a full version of Virtual DJ.?

No you don't, it will come bundled with a Lite version of Virtual DJ called VDJ LE. This will work without turning off, but you won't get all the full features of the real VDJ. This controller will be able to do everything I showed in the review and it won't turn off on you after 10 minutes...

Hey, did you know that virtual DJ 8 is free? It's the full version. The only reason you would be paying anything is if you wanted to use VDJ professionally and make money. check it out: www.virtualdj.com/download/index.html you sign up for a free account and get your groove on. You have to manually map what ever device your using. I've never had an issue with the 10 minute thing and I'm using a maschine MK1.

That could work, but I don't think I'd use this as a club backup... Maybe a Traktor S2 or even DDJ-SB or Numark Mixtarck Pro III coming soon... those would be better for that I'd think.

Do you still have the mixtrack edge? And have you played around with it more or just put it on the shelf? I do mostly parties and weddings. I've been using virtual dj with no controller through a unpowered mixing board connected to powered speakers and sub. I thought this might be great to throw in the bag and have more control over vdj. I kinda like the pro 2 but if I'm gonna get something that size, I might as well save up for a mixdeck quad or ns7 ii. Do you think it would be worth it to drop a 100 on the edge with the setup I have now or should I spend serious money on something bigger and switch my setup?

adrenalinegroove it works great for Djs on the move plans trains. its great, now it even works with serato.. and it is a great thing to always have at gig cuz when all shit hits the fan and the turn tables suck and theres no cdjs or they broke 2 all thats there and works is a mixer This can really save the day.. just get the rca's in2 a channel on the house system and you can have a good fun set, that you can even get in to.or u can just run serato on internal mode and buy the key board protecter map with all the notes on it put it over ur keys and you can fully dj push slow down bend everything but you would still need a mixer hope the djm 800 or m1000 is not broken 2. there is always away even if i have to pull out my tablet 32gig flash mini card can hold your set, and enough songs to save the night... I've play a lot of clubs and show 9 out of ten you get to choose cdj vnyl or tracktor, ableton , with a midi or tablet that is also a midi ... anyway most of the time there gear is top of the line and you bring ur lap top and a few sets of needles ur good. but i have had to save theday so many times i can't count. so i just learned to use every software there is but i love having this slim sleek full set right with me in my back pack. good to go over ur set b4 you play make a remix b4 you land and u drop a new track you made using it as ur midi. i love it.. it does what you need it to do and more. and it folds up clean like a iPad cover,its not trying to be a S4, or ddj sb, or ns7 or 8 2.. its good to keep u sharp on ur sets , and it can end up saving the dayi like how it works with all my soft wear ABlive,scratch live, Vdj7&8, traktor. its great, but i make music and i Dj it... if ur just playing weddings bud all you need is iTunes you are jus a jukebox they tell you what to play and you play it. and you get paid. weddings Don't go off the hook. So stick to you laptop keep it running great, or get a new one keep downloading all the mainstream sons , and but 2 powered jbls and a good lil mixer , and save ur money for something else a later some light and a fog machine. And just collect ur money. if ppl come tell u what to play all night ur no dj just put it on ur play list for the night no need to spend cash on dj controllers you don't have to read ur crowed there is no art or heART in it. when ur getting paid and ppl can't even walk up to you to try and ask for a song then look in to it. but if ur not get paid to play what you want what you love what you made...it will end up 4 sale on ebay. that what you should do. save ur money . ppl at weddings always want to hear the same shit every time and you know it. no one there even cares about mixing they just want to hear robin S, and manah..lol

Thanks Cnote Killia! I found one on eBay for $60. It has been great. And you are right. I'm not a DJ. I am a bassist and have been playing music my whole life, so I do know a little something about having passion for what you do. The DJ thing started as a favor to a friend and grew from there. I do love reading the crowd and keeping people moving all night. And you are absolutely right about people's taste in music at weddings but they fund my passion for bass. I've seen real DJs in action and after having a small glimpse into it, I have a ton of respect for what you all do. As a bass player, I understand rhythm and groove and just hitting play on a laptop and letting a songlist run will not keep people moving and breaking the rhythm is the quickest way to lose bodies on the dance floor. Keep your passion going and thanks for giving some great advice to people like me!

No, you cannot scratch with this. Try the Pioneer DDJ-SB or the Numark Mixtrack Pro 2
