Thank you Francis for a very interesting video. Interesting how Madonna was a long runner with her #1s. Glad to see 'Live To Tell' appreciated. Probably my favourite Madonna song. Duran Duran very appreciated by the Italians. Good to see a lot of local influence in their chart too. 'Adesso tu' was the Italian Eurovision entry that should have been. Shame they didn't take part in 1986. That would have won that year and such a beautiful power ballad. I love Eros' voice. 'Lambada' a very long runner too - and rightly so. Perfect song for summer!

In Italy, Duran Duran became famous too late. I like their early style, but before 1983-84 new wave and British synth-pop were almost unknown here, and albums were nowhere to be found. I only discovered their first album after they got famous with the Wild Boys. The subsequent albums I liked less and less.

Madonna and Duran Duran had the most #1 songs in Italy in the 80s. I would have expected to see something from Raffaella Carrá, Olivia Newton-John, Oliver Onions, the Super Snooper movie starring Terence Hill, Pino D'Angio, Ryan Paris, Cyndi Lauper, Culture Club, Sabrina Salerno... Wonderful to have seen Miguel Bosé, Nikka Costa and Luis Miguel though, as well as very young Eros Ramazzotti and Jovanotti.

Thank Francis, what a treat! Until 1983 domestic hits seemed to dominate the chart, but then Madonna stormed like a typhoon - no wonder she was someone special to Italians... Duran Duran scored far better than in their homeland. Hats off to Joe Cocker, 7:14 and 10:38 were his great performances, well deserved no.1s. Plus these "bambini songs" (3:47) - indeed, a chart like no other....

Very interesting. I lived through that decade and have memories that aren't represented by the top spots on the charts. In particular, the video does not perceive the amount of British music that arrived between 1983 and 1986 and American metal music between 1988 and 1990. For an Italian, on the other hand, the qualitative drop in Italian-language songs is perceived, which has not stopped since then.

@jovike7203 Жыл бұрын
I’m Italian and I agree with you. I don’t know what the source of this ranking is, but in my country there was no official ranking until 1996. State television and two music magazines published quite different charts, often corrupted to bring up songs related to them, above all Superclassifica, that was the largest ( top 50) but that was tragically acquired by Berlusconi’s television group. This was the cause why in 88 and 89 you can see so many television theme songs of his channels. It was very simple to influence the charts at a time when 10.000 were enough to reach the Top 10, because at the time vinyl singles sales plummeted, while CDs were still quite rare and very expensive. But I assure you that, contrary to what appears from this ranking, the tastes of us boys of that time were the same as those of other Europeans and today we listen again more often international hits as Tell it to my heart, Heaven is a place on earth or Wonderful life than stupid forgiven pseudo-songs as C’è da postare una macchina.
@am_ma Жыл бұрын
@@jovike7203 Thank you for the logical explanation because I started to worry asking myself why the Italians have a different taste? To my surprise It is all a monopoly game from those in conrtol of the media machine of that time.
