Did I lose any money or have I managed to own this for a few months for free? Sadly the XK is gone! But with the benefit of hindsight would I have bought the same spec car again? and lastly.. who bought it?

This past May I bought an F-Type, a 2016 3.0 S manual transmission coupe. Quite a car, it has all the options, is triple black and has very good presence. 380 HP is more than enough for the hilly and twisty New Hampshire USA roads where I live. I'm interested in getting an x358 Xj Vanden Plas to join it.

Great review that I stumbled across as I am interested in an XK. A suggestion for your next car could be something from AMG. I'm sure there are plenty out there that are in a reasonable price band, but the cost of ownership may be a different matter altogether!

E34 are so hard to come by, they've all rusted away. Why not look at E39 Alpinas, both the B10 (V8 and 6cyl) variants are out there and both really interesting propositions for something a little special/unusual but with mostly 5 series parts still so not crazy to run.

Seconded. The E34 is a fantastic motor however parts are scarce and in some cases non existent. The E39 makes a more sensible option, 530i Sport for me, avoid the V8 cos it's just not that good...

They really are a great car, I bought one ('06 model) with the intention of keeping it a year so I could say I've had a V8 then move it on... several years and 69K miles later (it's now clocking in at just over 162K) I've still got it (and I really missed it while it was off the road getting a replacement radiator). Of course with that kind of mileage it's virtually worthless so I'm keeping it. As for replacement? Heart over head I'd say, the one time I bought a car with my head it turned out to be the shortest time I've ever owned a car (nothing wrong with it generally but I hated the damned thing all the same). So go with the XJR if that's what's taking the fancy.

As I've previously commented, I like your taste in cars as I have both a De Tomaso Pantera like you and I've a 2010 Jaguar XKR. I told you when you first purchased your XK that you would love it, and even though you had it for only a very short time, it seems that you did like it very much. Your next car ought to be the next progression in the line, a 5.0L XKR. First off, the power of the 5.0L supercharged car is astonishing in comparison to the 4.2L naturally aspirated version.. And if for about a $1000, you add a reputable tune and pulley, you are pushing 600hp and the stoplight races with the Porsche you mentioned will belong to you. The 5L XKR is still no light weight sports car, but is so much fun in a civilized comfortable package. I could sell my gorgeous Pantera in a minute given the right price, but I will never sell my XKR as long as I can still drive, it's been that good! And I have 209,968 miles on my car as of the end of this evening, and it's still that good and enjoyable. And by the way, it will outperform your Pantera as I learned in my experience, and which is why I stopped driving mine for several years until the goodness of the Jag forced me to make the Pantera an all around better car. You will miss the package that the X150 offers, and my guess is that you'll be back in an R version sometime soon. I predicted your Pantera ownership, and I'm predicting you'll take the plunge with an XKR. I'm 11 years into mine and would not ever want to be without it. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I purchased a 2011 XK in 2015. At that time, I paid around $32k for the car with about 47k miles. I have had a few minor issues over the years, oil level sensor and bad led brake light unit. The biggest repair was for a stuck fuel injector where it made sense to replace all 8, and the spark plugs. The only current issues are a sagging headliner (fabric on the way) and the same water leak in the trunk (need to spend some time to track it down). After 9 years of ownership, the car still feels special every time I drive it... and every time I think about selling it... I can't find anything comparable. N/A V8, RWD, heated and cooled (not just ventilated) seats, leather everywhere... its a tough act to follow.

I live in Arizona, where older Jaguars are somewhat rare, and drive a 2007 XKR. I think that in buying a high-mileage, plain-Jane XK, you've missed out on a great deal of motoring pleasure. The true "sweet spot" is the supercharged 4.2-litre, which offers superlative performance combined with outstanding reliability. My car, with approximately 66k miles on it, has required absolutely no repairs in the nearly two years I've owned it. Of course, this in part is due to my buying a very well cared-for example. My understanding is that the 5.0-litre, despite its impressive power output, is somewhat more problematic (although there may still be one in my future). I'm aghast to think that your next car might be some boxy, soulless BMW. I suspect that with Jags being more commonplace in England, you simply don't see them for the gems that they are.

Twelve years ago I bought a black Xkr registered in 2008. black leather interior, black dashboard. It had all original Jaguar services, 25,000 miles and official Jaguar recalls had been issued. Now it has 42,000 miles, I always had it serviced in the official Jaguar garages and the car still runs very well, engine with good power and, despite being a sports car, it is a comfortable car. Two defects due to the poor quality of construction materials and accessories : the pedestrian protection system which is positioned under the bonnet went off, the compressor of the air conditioning system broke, despite the low mileage, the engine oil sump started to leak oil, the fabric of the internal covering of both the roof and the pillars which came off four years ago, and the lights that illuminate the license plate which came off from the rear bonnet when I lowered it to close it. However, my overall opinion regarding my 2008 Xkr is good, probably also because I drive this car very little, and therefore it still has low mileage. I will only sell it when spare parts will be no longer available in Italy and it will be no longer possible to repair it. I still like it today as much as the first day.

I have a (US) 2003 XK8 4.2 litre Convertible, and a (US) 2014 5.0 litre XK Coupe. Each car is remarkably different from the other, and I enjoy both for what they are. I suggest, to US buyers, that they opt for an XK with the 5.0 litre, but skip the supercharged version. I have driven them all, and the best daily drivers (and easier on your pocket book) are the normally aspirated vehicles with the larger engines.

If it has to be no more than £6-7k, can you find an XKR for that money? There's a challenge.

I have a late 2014 xfr with the supercharged 5.0 V8, I have daily driven it for 2.5 years with 0 issues, I cannot honestly think of a car to replace it with, it's absolutely fantastic

I owned a 12 plate XK. I bought it with barely 8,000 miles on the clock. Ironically after my purchase the cars value increased. I loved my ownership but another car beckoned...

I had a (caviar) 5 litre XK and found it tended to "run away" with me! I changed it for an XJ diesel which is to all intents and purposes just as fast and much more satisfying to own, especially in the colour combination of silver, with parchment seats, wood rim steering wheel and CLEAR windows, instead of the near ubiquitous blacked out ones from B post backwards. It is simply a delicious car and so very much more practical than the XK. I cannot recommend the XJ too highly !

I think a 2005 Mercedes Benz CLK55 AMG Coupe would give it a good run for the money. Although I am not sure how much they are in the UK ...?

Go for the Jaguar XKR, absolutely. I tried to convince my wife that we/she needed one (a 2015 AWD), but we had too many vehicles at the time.

I know its random, especially as i despise Audi, but back in the day i worked for them and the 200 5T or the 90 20V Sport Quattro were proper motors and arw around the monet you're talking. Been looking myself of late.

Something nice and spicy, a Maserati 3200gt maybe? More expensive and more trouble, but would be box office.

Umm with your your cars have to make views thing, with something like that your never going to enjoy your car, might I recommend that you have an exception where you keep one as your personal, unless its like the ferrari 308 where its 60,000 pounds and you really love the detomaso type thing, and just keep it and enjoy it, maybe just show it up in the background from time to time when doing new vids to keep people interested so they go hold on what's that, and maybe look into doing long term trips with them like Harry does, granted my love will always be the first gen version of the XK8 given how E type ish it looks and how much better it was than that old ugly XKS, like its everything the XKS failed to be, nice, good looking although apparently not reliable and the engine can blow up if you take it around the ring, which is really damn stupid for a performance car made in the 90's like I wonder if the XKR has a baffled oil pan

Hi Jack i love the vids and Benz channel is great and look forward to seeing more of the both of you. Maybe a collab would be possible. As for the next car. A CL600 would be very cool. I have the CL500 2002 and adore it. ❤️👍 keep up the amazing work.

This video wasn't what I want to see. I don't care that your viewership will go down if you don't get a different car to review. I want to know what this car is like to own over time, not just a couple of months. How reliable is it? What kind of expenses have you incurred? And I don't care if you broke even or lost money after a few months. That isn't long enough to make an intelligent decision about the car. Sorry, but I won't be subscribing to your channel.

I like em, although I'd be a little afraid of failures - I like to keep cars for a long time. I've always liked straight six Jaguars too, for various reasons, not sure how that still applies to "modern" versions.
