Amazing. With window i have to offset xy plane and result is so sweet. Thank you for your work

You're welcome! I sometimes use the 'pull to plane' node to get vertical elements on the same plane.

Thank you for the nice tutorial :) I want to try to applicate it (or at least part of it) on a facade example with a lot of panels, where for example every third has a different setting. I have trouble sometimes to find out how elements are placed (randomly). So having a system for numbering it is a interesting topic

You're welcome! Depending on the shape of the building, numbering by spline may be more effective (I have a video on this too).

this was my first ever time watching a dynamo tutorial and now im pretty certain i never want to use it .

That's a shame. I hope it wasn't my presentation specifically that put you off the tool, but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts as to why. Maybe look into Grasshopper as an alternative approach?

@@AussieBIMGuru hi mate, nothing to do with you or your video per say , I'm a design manager on the development side of the industry and I was looking at your videos on dynamo just to see what all the fuss is about . It seems like it's for very specialist functions that wouldn't really speed up my work flow in anyway . I was interested in some way of creating parametric apartment block / masterplan designs and optionairing at a high level / pre planning stage I had this idea in my mind that dynamo would allow me to create parameters such as unit sizes, entry points, optimum refuse and bike storage points and optimum orientation, and offsets from roads possibly by pulling data from an OS map ? I dont know maybe I had expected too much Either way it's not really your fault- great vid in fact !

Thanks Safsum, just wanted to make sure I hadn't misrepresented Dynamo and lost you a potential opportunity. I would say the types of workflows you're looking into require a hybrid approach where some intelligent content 'blocks' are required at the model level, and Dynamo or a computational workflow focuses more on setting values and placing elements with this embedded intelligence. OSM files can be read by Grasshopper and Dynamo using a package called 'Elk'. The challenge is that it relies entirely on the completness of the OSM map you're exploring, so often the results are a bit iffy. I did a video on how to delve into OSM files here if you're interested, although I mainly just used it to create a DWG of the equivalent OSM sector; kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHSXoWNqmsujpJI Since then, Data-Shapes has developed a Dynamo package which brings in the OSM data in 3D via 'Dynamaps'; dynamobim.org/dynamaps/ I'd encourage you to check out what the teams at 'TestFit' and 'HYPAR' are up to - they're exploring ways to streamline feasibility stage design and analysis in integrated third party programs. Both still under development, but also with seed funding/communities to back them up; blog.testfit.io/ hypar.io/ I think ultimately these third party approaches will suit most users better, as they have to rely less on custom script setup and instead have an easier interface with tangible variables to work with.

Yes, your expectations are way too high, I have real world experience with just using it to set up sheets and put views on sheets. Niche but very important. And also use it to sort of help clean up drawings by marking out where all the warnings are and putting them into a little text file I can read from and bring an notions from one project into another. It could in theory do just about all you ask but you would probably have to be basically more of a computer programmer than an architect to get all that stuff set up. Your apartment block would probably have to be one part family another part link just to get the parametric stuff set up. Then the options features would probably make you go insane trying to handle them with visual scripting, I guess a lot of “Or,” statements would end up being used.
