Love this mod! Feels like a true racecar, with rifle-bolt throws. This is on the middle setting.

How did you end up liking it?

I installed mine on my 2007 997 GT3 RS. installed the shifter and the cables. I love it. You can feel the teeth of the gear box the feed back is so raw. Personally I set it up on the longest throws. I prefer it that way as the shift is still shorter than stock but you need a lot less effort to shift. The cables were actually not that hard to do but a lift is preferable and a second set of hands to push and pull at the same time.

i might go to the longest. good call, thanks!

@@rayp5547 i haven’t gone back. You have so much more control. I’ve tried all three positions and it’s the one for me.

Do the cable make any diff in feel or just durability? Thanks
@marcducati Жыл бұрын
@@brianhimmelman420 well good question. The thing is I didn’t try it with the shifter and the stock cables, so it’s not easy saying what changes in the feeling amount to what. What I can say is the overall feel is much better. I wouldn’t go as far as some vids showing flex in the stock shifter as some videos do as it is greatly exaggerated in my view. My approach wasn’t scientific, their is a package deal, I’ll have everything appart and I have a lift. I want the race car feel for the fun of it and the shifter in conjunction with the metal synchros of the GT3 RS make it that. Takes about 15 km tu get the gear box up to temp and the shifts to be good and easier. But it’s cool 😎 explaining to people why your gearbox isn’t broken but it’s a real sports car 🤣. My advice, go with the cables while everything is appart because if you don’t. in the back of your mind, that little voice is going to nag you every time you take the car.

It could be the camera angle so please correct me if I'm wrong but the numeric shifter almost looks like it's centered too much to the right? I'm looking at upgrading my cables so I definitely want to know if the short shifter is at a different angle from stock
@rayp5547 Жыл бұрын
maybe a bit. the guys at numeric can give you more info. i did the cables too
@roots4x6 ай бұрын
I think most of the play is in the cables for older cars. When I see the play in my shifter with the boot out, I see the cables moving basically instantly except for a very slight bit of play in the side to side motion.
@rayp55476 ай бұрын
In general, no cars with cable transmissions feel as connected as direct linkage (like in an S2000 or a M3). So to improve an older car with cables, the Numeric system with new cables is a massive improvement.

Hey man! Did u do the cables as well?

Yessir! Feels great.

watching this I am wondering if my 987 already has one dang lol. it shifts about as much as the after and makes that same metalic noise.
@rayp55472 ай бұрын
just take the leather boot off and see if it’s Numeric. It will say it in large letters, and it’s all metal instead of plastic

Been on the fence with this setup or a hybrid setup with the GT3 SSK, NR cables, and solid bushings.. did you entertain any other setups before going with the full NR suite?
@rayp55472 жыл бұрын
That’s not bad, but I’ve tested many configs at Vollig (san diego porsche tuner) and full Numeric felt best by far. The FunctionFirst Shift Right Solution is also good for the cheaper price.
@dre32pitt2 жыл бұрын
@@rayp5547 I was also contemplating incorporating the FF Shift Right Solution with my 'hybrid' setup. Price is about the same after adding everything together on the hybrid setup. Sounds like 'BOCO' is the way to go.. Buy Once, Cry Once, lol.. Referring to the NR full setup. Thank you for the response!!
@rayp55472 жыл бұрын
@@dre32pitt lol my advice is to go for the full NR setup if you want a major, aggressive upgrade. The FF setup helps, but it’s too close to stock for me.

Looks excessively short to be honest. Almost like a switch rather than a proper throw of a gear change
@rayp5547 Жыл бұрын
Nope, it’s perfect. That’s why it’s one of the number one track mods at Porsche tuning shops. Read up on rennlist, you’ll see ;)
@gregmayled Жыл бұрын
@@rayp5547 I’ve heard good things. But it doesn’t look very engaging having a throw that’s so short. My car has the GT3 shifter and although it’s not perfect, I like the involvement and feel of the level moving through the gates rather than such a small notch and click. Each to their own.
@rayp5547 Жыл бұрын
@@gregmayled Unless you’ve tried it, you’re speaking from zero experience (or a guess). Maybe the throws look too short to you, trust me it’s a great distance. It’s satisfying. Trust all the track guys who swear by the Numeric. Also, the height (and the throw) is adjustable for 3 distances. Mine’s set to the middle.
@gregmayled Жыл бұрын
@@rayp5547 will have to try one to be able to compare it to the Ferrari open gates and the other quality manuals I’ve driven, but it does seem very “track” focused in the sense that it’s been designed for a fast shift rather than focusing on being one designed for driver engagement, especially as that isn’t on the shortest setting.
@rayp5547 Жыл бұрын
@@gregmayled It’s silly to compare an Italian exotic manual to a $750 part (not including install or cables). Yet it’s still a vast upgrade to the plastic housing and shifter in modern Porsche manuals - and that’s a major plus. Trust me, it’s far more engaging than any stock stick shift. Keep researching :)
