Hmm, I stand unconvinced. For me, the side to side play is really the part of the issue I'd hope to fix. Seems like a good value though! As always, super helpful video, cheers mate

Thanks for watching mate. Exactly my thoughts. I did this while I had the car in bits for the transmission cables. For £30 it ok but not as good as a proper setup.

Fitted the same shifter & had the same issue, i just ground a few millimetres off the ends of the shafts, fit perfectly after that.

You should have used grease on the moving parts, that shifter will wear out in no time

had the same issue - there is a plate in there, that you can take out - then it works..

So I went with the Function First kit, which includes a couple of extra parts of this, but is also quite a lot more expensive - however, it eliminated *all* the play, it's like a rifle bolt. I've taken some videos which I'll get round to uploading at some point! PS: That bird turd is very distracting.

Which Function First kit? I'm looking at the Shift Right Solution and their black short shifter for my 987 CS. Seems like the best option that allows the stock knob that isn't close to $1000 USD

@@OpticalToxin Yes, exactly, the shift-right solution and short shifter - I went for the White as I didn't want to change it too much from stock. Very happy with the result!

Will I heavily urge you to remove this ASAP. I bought a similar short shifter, had the exact same issue with the play. No matter what you do IT WILL come back. Ultimately this left me stranded at the side of the road, the play in the shifter led to it not selecting gears properly and it ripped one of the cables off of the gearbox, leaving the car stuck in reverse. Buy the Porsche short shift kit directly from them, it costs about £350 and it replaces the entire housing.
