it´s also really a trick question. because any normal person reading the question for the first time, is gonna contemplate the increase in "percentage", which would give another answer. Instead the test asks for the same "amount".

That is exactly what I did! Calculated the percentage increase for every single one of them! I need to concentrate more.

See, this question is fine, but then there are many others on your site that are just insane.

We understand super tough q's can be frustrating. Our goal is to provide a range of difficulty levels that mimic what you might see on a real test. This way, you'll be prepared for anything! Don't worry if you get stuck on a few - that's totally normal, all candidates will be getting questions wrong. The key is to focus on your own growth, better to encounter these questions now than on the real test!

@@AssessmentDayLtd Ok - my question is: How on earth have these tests anything whatsoever to do with the firefighting job that I am going for? It's absolutely ridiculous with the amount of time given. I can work out what the questions mean eventually but I think it's utter madness for each question to be under a minute. Why don't you do an 18 minute 18 question video of one of your colleagues taking them? Then we can see if they're actually achievable or not.

@@cyborgsi I can understand your frustration, but numerical and mechanical reasoning are quite important for firefighting. Quick calculations are often needed to be made for interpreting gauges or working out how much hose is needed. These tests help assess performance under time pressure, which is a reality of the job. Critically, these tests are also a very effective way to initially screen candidates. Fire services receive many applications, and these tests help to efficiently identify individuals who possess the necessary aptitude. This saves everyone's time and resources by ensuring that further stages of the selection process (like interviews and practical assessments) are focused on candidates who have demonstrated a baseline level of these crucial skills.

@@AssessmentDayLtd Yep I understand - thanks for the reply. I was just getting frustrated because I wasn't finding the right type of assessments for the firefighting job - as in they were all numerical rather than ladder lengths/pump ratios etc. (which I have more of a chance of answering correctly!) I've just completed the final assessment so it really is just in the hands of the Gods now! It was worth paying £15 for the assessments as it made me work harder.

One is supposed to solve this question in under a minute. The instructor in this video took 4 minutes to solve it. LMAO

Is “one” also expected to talk through their answer in a KZbin video the way the instructor is doing? No. It’s obviously going to take more than a minute, Roshan.

on question 2 of you ist free test you have an error I think. It says 9% but you've then rewritten it as .91, which is 91% not 9%. (it literally says .91 9 percent)
@AssessmentDayLtd6 жыл бұрын
Hi Seth, Yes, you are correct, a decrease of 9% can be found by multiplying the original value by 0.09. However, take this example question; If you had 200 teddy bears and gave 9% of them to your friends, how many bears would you have left? We can work out the answer by multiplying 0.9 * 200 = 18, and then deducting 18 from 200 to leave 182. Or, as we've explained for question 2, we can save some time by realising that 0.91 is equivalent to the original value less 9%. 0.91 * 200 = 182 I hope that explanation has helped clarify your earlier comment.

ooh, ok makes sense. That's what happens when you try to practice when you're half asleep. Also, if you're allowed to use your phone calculator you can just type 200-9% into the calc and it pops out 182 :)

Some questions are not closed. A mathematician or an economists cannot move under those structures of questions. What is asked and what is solved are different. Do not waste your time.
