Very nice figures, I did not know that the Romans fought the Numidians. Also your videos helped push me into painting 15mm figures now and it is a nice change for me from 28mm.

Thank you for your kind reply. Yes, the Romans did fight the Numidian’s and they also fought with them. It’s a bit of history but of course the Numidians first allied with Carthage. And we know what that went. Then they allied themselves with Rome and we’re strong allies of Rome. But then came king Jungurtha. He was very ambitious and treacherous. He went out on an all out war. What interesting who beat him was Marius. The Marius who reformed the Roman army. He cut his teeth on the Numidians. 😁

Fantastic video. Very enjoyable and love the potted history at the front end. I have always been partial to the Numidians since reading Sallust's "Catiline War" for Advanced Latin at University. Our unseen translation in the final exam was a passage from "The Jugurthine War", and I can honestly tell you that never has being a wargamer benefited me more! Filled out the context for me massively.

Most people don’t know anything about that war. But it’s not the war itself. That’s so fascinating but the political intrigue. It almost reminds me of what’s happening around the world today. This adopted prince went rogue. Killed his family and wanted to rule North Africa. He was ruthless and dangerous. But he knew how to play Rome. I like particularly the history of Marius and his dance with jurgutha. He developed all of his Roman military reforms based upon these experiences. I can’t say that I read Latin, but having multiple languages under my belt, I can look at it and try to figure it out. I’m sure you did well on your exams I probably would’ve failed massively.😂😂

Kevin Left some comments on your gaming room post - they disappeared anyway you can probably mix your Numidians with your Carthaginian, Roman and Egyptian armies. Your Numidian army is very nice 👍 Keep up the good work my friend. All the best from down under. Lewis Sydney 🇦🇺

You are absolutely right I do mix the new medians in in fact, I’m working on a video now playing age of Hannibal. I’m using the new medians and the Carthaginians together against the Romans, so I agree with you and it works out great it really is an army that you can morph mix and match

The Numidian's are a great army to have around. You can use them throughout the Ancient Med Sea for a number of armies. Been eyeing Forged in Battle miniatures for a long while. They make some nice miniatures. Really nice troops! Nice command stands! I need to finally decide to get back to miniatures soon. I am going to be purchasing Great Battles of Alexander the Great Deluxe from GMT games and that will hit my hobby fund for a while so maybe next year I will make a return to historical miniatures.

Hi! That GMT game is awesome. I have a couple of them and love them. Getting back to miniatures. It’s expensive and sooo time consuming. Rewarding however but not if you don’t really enjoy it. Forged in battle are so easy to paint and look nice. What army are you eyeing?

They are doing a reprint that should be releasing in the next few weeks. I have S.P.Q.R. Deluxe and Great battles of Julius Caesar Deluxe so it will definitely go great with those games. Oh I agree. I enjoy painting miniatures but my biggest hurdle is getting the motivation to do so since I don't have anyone to game with. Forged in battle is definitely a good miniature. I have a few possible ideas id like to explore. The Punic Wars, Alexander's Conquests, Early Rome-Pyrrhic War, The Crusades and Early Hundred Years War. Its just a matter of finally deciding what shall I do. @@thekrausecollection15mmmin53

My dear sir, I agree with you entirely. That’s why I tried to paint this army, using more colors of a race living in North Africa much like they are today. I took lots of pictures from Pinterest and others of people living in Tunis and North Africa all the way to Morocco and use that color palette to paint the army. I will admit that there are some older units that I have that have them entirely as a more darker race from Africa. I just have not got around to changing those colors. But you are absolutely right and I’m not sure where this idea that medians were African black crept into, the historical miniature world, but I am always correcting people that that is not what they were at all so I applied you for your writing and agree with you. I actually went to look at the army again and saw that about 90% of my figures where in a lighter to darker occasion, skin tone, but definitely not a African skin tone. I also have Berber armies from the 19th century and they are definitely more on the lighter side of skin tone.
