Is there anyway to clean the base or take the base apart? My child has wee’d in the seat and it’s dripped into the base and it smells now but we can’t work out how to get it out.

I don't think so sadly. :( I would reach out to Nuna, but I am pretty sure you can't without compromising the integrity of the base.

Yeah, that's how I ended up at this video too. My child urinated into the seat multiple times and what people don't realize is that you basically can never get the smell out. The design of the RAVA prevents it from being fully able to clean it. Insane for a carseat at this price point. So I got fed up and I started taking screws out to try and get to the belts underneath for cleaning, and the smell is horrid. The Rava was not designed with any pee accidents in mind, which is honestly an oversight on their part. Accidents happen! Here's what happens: the urine will stay in the part underneath where the rear-facing installation occurs. It pools there. There is no option of draining it. The thing is, the belt to insert it into a LATCH installation is there. There's no way to remove that LATCH belt. Also the belt got tightening the buckles is under there. All fabric. All covered in urine. The LATCH belt is actually soaked since there's no way to drain it. I'm honestly open to buying another car seat at this point. This is next level.

I have the same issue, I have taken off the covers and literally hosed it down and now it is drying in the sun outside, I'm just hoping I can sit it on an angle where all the water and urine can drip out eventually D-: I figure if the urine got in there it can drip out somehow....and so can the water....

@@BrettWyrickI get buying another car seat but these are $500 plus. It is annoying to have to buy another when I have already bought 4. I’m currently airing mine out on the porch. I am hoping the sun might do something.

Is it possible to take off the straps to wash them?

No, because it is no rethread. It's recommended to just use a damp cloth and some gentle soap.

Thanks but how do you clean the straps??? my baby threw up in the car and the straps and attachments are a mess :(

I actually had the same thing happen with my daughter, and I used a gentle soap like a branch basics. Let it sit for a second, and then a damp cloth.

@@thestrollermom yeah, I did that too but cheesy stuff is in crevices in the buckles and attachments and even a q-tip won't get in there. The straps themselves came out clean with a toothbrush but the smell is still there. I'm thinking of using a steamer as that is what's done for car seats and belts and also seems safe for Graco seats. I was very tempted to just hose down the entire chair but decided against it as to not jam/rust the metal parts.

@@regisplump914 have you tried a toothpick? I know what you’re talking about and had that happen with my infant car seat. I would not recommend hosing it off. I think that voids the warranty.

I cannot for the life of me figure out the bottom plastic pieces - any tips?

Hold the fabric and the plastic piece together and push it into the spacing. It will kind of pop in. If you can't get it, I can make a short on how to do it! I know it can be a little tricky.
