Never take your eyes off your opponent..even when you bow. It is like a finger pointing away to the moon...dont concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory. Sir I want slow motion this video
@robertostler6733
@robertostler6733 5 жыл бұрын
You do the hand roll into reverse grip but then you just swing it back around with a lot of extra motion then you go into a "finger roll" (you are actually rolling them across the back of your 4 fingers) back into the standard grip. You should be just flowing from the hand or wrist roll right into the finger roll. If you are just trying to be fancy sure, do all the extra circles you want. If you are learning to use nunchucku as a weapon. ( When I say that you should learn to use them as a weapon because that is what they are. I would not recommend actually planning on using them as a self defense weapon though. That would be a good way of getting shot.) I love doing fancy tricks with nunchucku but I use them as a weapon with some fancy moves thrown in. They do a few things. One is they warn your opponent that you are skilled with this weapon. Some "fancy" moves do serve a purpose. Rolls, wrist rolls, finger rolls, shoulder rolls and body rolls are kinda fancy ways of changing your grip from standard to reverse or vice versa. Some rolls allow you to gain a ton of momentum in a very short time and more importantly a small space for a significantly more powerful strike. Passes, shoulder over/under passes, neck passes behind the back passes and around the waist passes are very good at confusing the opponent and can help increase your momentum. Confusing or "faking" your opponent out is a huge tactic. Especially with nunchucku. In fact if you are not using " faints" or "fake outs" to confuse your opponent, then you are doing it wrong. All of it. Your mentality for using nunchucku as a weapon should be similar to something along these lines. Your nunchucku should be felt before they are seen. Meaning your opponent should not know what you have until AFTER they have been hit 2,3 even 4 times. Nunchucku are very easily concealed they are small, compact end very powerful and versatile. So when thinking about what you're going to do you need to think about what the nunchucks are good at doingyou need to make a list of pros and cons I've already done this for myself other people's lists are going to vary something that I may view as a car you might view as a crow and vice a versa. I will give you my list and my tactics. Pro's Small, compact and concealable Powerful and flexible Versatile, you can strike or strangulate Fast with low commitment Cons Short and limited reach Probably going to have to land multiple strikes to stop someone A level of unpredictability. The more you training practice the less this is a problem. It is a problem the bounce back can be unpredictable. So now once you've made a similar list you can put together tactics as you train now to just give you an idea how long I've been doing it I'm 37 years old I started when I was 7 years old so I've been doing it for 30 years. And yes the Ninja turtles were a huge influence on me when I start it I'm a child of the 80s Ninja turtles were a big thing when I was a kid Michelangelo was my favorite my dad was a purple belt in kenpo karate and he had a set of nunchucks which I promptly commandeered really I stole them from himso if you could imagine a 7 year old with a big pair of red wood nunchucks with a chain trying to swing them around like Michelangelo Michelangelo's nunchucks weren't even as big as the ones that I had those redwood nunchucks were huge even for a grown man here I am the seven-year-old trying to be fancy with them. However my dad caught me with them and taught me how to use them to a degree he wasn't even all that good but he had a couple moves. Been training with them ever since never look back. So here's some tactics your tactics are going to definitely change depending on your opponent and what your opponent is armed with if your opponent is barehanded and you're pretty much just golden to just beat the crap out of them I would recommend this tactic with this tactic you use all the time if you're fighting something and that is cheap the nunchucks moving whether you're spinning them in a small circle or you're spinning them in a figure eight or you're passing them around and spinning them around like Bruce Lee does either way you want to keep them in motion so when your opponent comes at you there already moving okay you just need to be good at striking from those movements that's part of trading so that is the foundation of your fighting tactics with nunchucks keep them moving. now it's your opponent is armed will start with a knife kid okay if youropponent has a knife keep the nunchucks moving between you and the knife because your primary tactic is going to be strike the hand with a knife but if the guy is any good with a knife is not going to let you do that easily. I can tell you what they're probably going to try to do they're probably going to try to rush in okay and grab you and then stab the crap out of you remember they're not going to just stick you once they're going to grab ahold of you and stick you seven eight times in a couple seconds. And the way they're going to start this is there probably get a par at you with a ham that doesn't have the knife cuz what they're looking for isn't opening to Russian grab you stab you so when they paw at you and that hand comes within striking distance of your nunchucks you have to hit it and hit it hard breaking bones and after you hit it you need to correct and come right back to keeping the nunchuck between you and the knife okay this will prevent them from rushing you after you break their hat so you hid them in the hand and then you need to swing right back toward the head or the head with a knife this will keep them back so you're going to need to pick at them this way they step in at you hit him in the kneecap I got to remember they may be doing things to get you to swing this is one of the pros I listed below commitment nunchucks have a very low commitment meaning if you swing and Miss because they were out of range or they dodged you or whatever you should be able to come right back with another strike to keep them from rushing in at you. Most of your fighting with nunchucks is going to be controlling distance I make an imaginary line on the ground we're if they cross it I'm breaking a bone that's my mentality that's what I think about when I'm train that if they cross this line whatever crosses that line I'm going to break and after I break it there's going to be another strike I'm not stopping when you stop with nunchucks you put yourself in a very dangerous position you have to get that momentum going again. and you need to count on you're going to have to hit the person a number of times before they stop don't get me wrong if you crack somebody right across the skull with one really good strike yeah you're going to stop them with one what's the odds of you getting that strikes the odds of the person leaving themselves open like that are pretty low but a good way of getting them open is by hitting them other places hitting him in the kneecap hitting them in the elbow hitting them in the air and hitting them in the shin or hitting them across the chest stomach or back these will hopefully open them up for a strike to the chin or the head but to be completely honest with you if you break a guy's hand and then his knee he's probably not going to fight you anymore he's probably going to give up and really those two strikes smacking somebody in the hand and then coming right back and hitting them in the kneecap to strikes that should be able to be done in a roughly 1 second should be really easy for you to pull off. Nunchucks because of the chain allow for multiple strikes without having to stop and recaulk and deliver another strikecompared to a baseball bat if you were to hit somebody in the body with a baseball bat it's going to stop when you hit them and then you're going to have to bring it back for another swing. Now one of the benefits a baseball bat is probably only going to take one. Whereas with nunchucks if theyblock your strike or you hit them you can still just follow through the chain are roach will bend and I allow you to follow through and snap it right back for a second third fourth fifth sixth strike. I don't know if anyone reading this comment has ever seen nunchucks sparring videos I've participated in many of these boring not tournaments but just sparring with people with weapons and I can just tell you one of the biggest advantages with weapons is reach and nunchucks are very limited in their reach however they kind of make up for that with a power and be the ability to strike repeatedly. Delivering strikes in rapid succession really starts to bother your opponent trust me when you've delivered five or six strikes in your opponent gets hit with 5 or 6 to strikes without answering it really starts to bother them and they start to make mistakes because they desperately want to answer the onslaught you just delivered but if they have a weapon like a staff or even worse a sword it's really really hard to get past outreach you have to get them to commit to a swing and get out of the way and get in and that's easier said than done I really try to get them to go for like a cross type slash up two down at an angle and then I like to duck sidestep and as I'm ducking inside stepping I hid them in the knee cuz I'm already down there and then I strike up at the hands holding the weapon and then back down at the head so it's three strikes and I probably deliver them in under 2 seconds anyway some things to think about if you have any questions or comments or one of b******* about nunchucks I'm happy to talk about it

Robert Ostler Dude..... nunchaku is obsolete with the invention of gun powder. Nothing wrong with developing ur skills, as a hobby OR self defense. Nothing wrong with having better hand-eye coordination than the next guy, and in these days, I’ve never heard of one person getting into a fight with them; like I said.... gun powder dude. I’ve been a spinner since I was 6 years old.....& if it takes me more than one blow with a nunchaku to disable an opponent, then perhaps i should stick with guns? Something I know would work? Maybe? But in 2019, who the hell fights with them? IT’S A TRAINING TOOL, bro. Bruce Lee movies were just that.....MOVIES!!! RIP Lee Jun Fan

@@charlesaderholt8539 pretty sure I covered that. I would never suggest carrying nunchucks around to use in self defense. You would be asking to get shot. That's not to say that one could never use them in self defense. Lots of people get assaulted with clubs and knives. Your best option is a gun. I have CCW and I carry.

Nunchucks are hardly a viable weapon, I would consider them to be a "skill base" weapon". Kind of like the Colt single action army Revolver, although yes, you can easily kill someone with it. Nowadays its primary use is in cowboy competitions and fancy gun handling.

I haven't ran into a practitioner that has been able to recover from me simply covering my genitals and head area and simply charging them and disrupting their flow and taking them down. You have to expect getting hit. Sometimes you have to be able to take a hit. It's just little clubs with not a lot of power so the tiny smack you may feel will be nothing compared to the ass beating they will receive in retaliation.
