Thanks for watching!
At Baehr Taekwondo , we teach both Taekwondo (Tae Kwon Do or Taekwon-do) and Hapkido (Hap Ki Do or Hapki-Do). The combination of Taekwondo and Hapkido results in a seamless integration of techniques that no other Taekwondo school benefits from.
My original instructor was Chung Won Oh , a 9th Dan black belt in Taekwondo and Hapkido from Korea. He attended the first ever International Taekwondo Federation's intructor seminar in 1974 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was one of General Choi Hong-Hi's original black belt students and became one of the first Taekwondo and Hapkido instructors in Canada, opening his southern Ontario schools beginning in 1973.
Our style and our uniforms may appear a bit different from what you're accustomed to seeing on KZbin. Sometimes "different" is a very good thing. (We wear Hapkido uniforms.) More importantly, we set ourselves apart from the other Taekwondo channels because we are very different.
We are the only channel on KZbin that does original style Taekwondo! It isn't a stretch to say that there's us, and then there's everyone else, and everyone else is exactly the same, doing things according to one particular book. If you're ready to learn something new you've come to the right place.
Our style can only be found in the oldest Taekwondo books that were ever published, long before the Legacy guide/encyclopedia and video series came out. As a result, most instructors today have either forgotten that style, or never learned it to begin with.
Our roots trace back to the origins of the art. At Baehr Taekwondo, we teach the original, militarized version of ITF Taekwondo and Hapkido, evolved to make optimum use of every technique and apply it correctly in the most plausible and realistic manner.
By teaching Taekwondo and Hapkido together, students gain a solid grappling background (missing from Taekwondo), along with critical weapons training, breathing control exercises (also missing from Taekwondo), and additional foundation movements (missing from Taekwondo) to form a complete self defence system.
Baehr Taekwondo is the #1 Taekwondo and Hapkido school in Waterloo Region, specializing in private instruction. We offer in-person instruction, and training content for sale.
Whereas WTF (WT) style Taekwondo prepares students for Olympic sparring, we teach fight strategies and tactics that work in the real world. Our techniques are realistic, practical, functional, and optimal.
If you are interested in authentic, original, ITF style Taekwondo, the very style General Choi Hong-Hi taught to soldiers in Korea, as taught by a grandmaster instructor, you are in the right place.
While my channel is not political, it is important to note that KZbin has shadow-banned my channel repeatedly over the years for expressing my political views in the comment section of other KZbin channels. This has greatly hurt the growth of my channel. The top Taekwondo and Hapkido channels you find on KZbin are all run by users who either express no opinions on KZbin, or who express only KZbin-approved political opinions. Whatever your political opinions are, I support your right to say them, without being punished. The same cannot be said of KZbin.
Help support my channel by subscribing , sharing the links, and spreading the word. Also be sure to check me out on Rumble .

Yeah, you should do a response video to Shadiversity with the baton vs nunchaku.

*Milani Fitness* did a great rebuttal video on the nunchaku that thoroughly buried Shadiversity. Milani is a lot younger, better looking, and gets a lot more views than I do. ☺ The problem with channels like Shadiversity is that you get this influx of HEMA instructors encroaching on the martial arts field and trying to position themselves as "experts" on all things combat-related when many of them have no formal martial arts training whatsoever. (HEMA instructors are basically a group of guys that spar with historical European weapons, and that's about it.) They try to apply their medieval "knight in armor on battlefield" logic to Asian peasant weapons used by people who weren't allowed to own swords or other weapons due to oppressive governments. Ironically, now it's nunchaku that are usually banned in most countries. I wish I could show more of them but I'm not allowed to. Perhaps a field trip somewhere warm will let me do a series of videos on the nunchaku!

As long as the nunchaku wielder knows what he is doing and is able to maintain momentum with the nunchucks he can defend well against the knife 🤷
@taekwondotime
@taekwondotime 2 жыл бұрын
Technically, you don't have to keep the momentum going. It's just a good way of discouraging any idea of an attack. It prevents the knife user from even trying. It gets riskier for the nunchaku user from a stationary position.

Finally someone who knows how to use a Nunchaku for self defense. I would argue that it's a defensive weapon against an armed indiviual until you disarm or have a head hit opportunity.

Thanks. Every weapon has strengths and weaknesses, and it seems like a lot of KZbin channels only want to focus on the weaknesses of nunchaku.

@taekwondotime see after looking at your comments i'm assuming your pov is a trained / experienced nunchaku user against a random I assume non experienced knife assailant, the problem I see with your POV is u aren't taking into consideration the best of both worlds see, theres a reason military personnel use a standardized knife instead of nunchaku maybe a soldier with experience with the nunchaku might be more effective for certain situations but a knife can be used for much more purposes than just stabbing and slashing dependant on the model

The military equips soldiers with a knife because of the general utility of having a knife. It's a fantastic tool to have.

@@taekwondotime indeed lots of utility, and not a lot of training to be somewhat proficient at it, I just try to give an unbiased opinion on both matters but nunchuks are very slick and cool ngl

Dude, you can block a bullet with a numchuck. You can deflect it if you bring the thing around real fast like. Is that your dad by the way? Looks like you still live at home like I do. What a drag, huh? But honestly he looks like an older dude so you could probably just overhaul him and beat his ass without the numchuck. Still this is a good video though. Also, do you like guacamole? Just wondering. It's pretty much my favorite.

Aside from guns, nunchaku are probably the most restricted weapon in the world. We emphasize hand-to-hand combat because it's almost always illegal to carry a weapon somewhere, so you won't have a weapon to be able to defend yourself with unless you are at home.@@flowrepins6663

A knife is legal to carry It is compact One stab and the guy will probably die or stop attacking You need a lot less training with a knife. Ive seen fights with nunchucks and people shrug off the blows. If you time it and come in with feigns you won't get hit with a big shot. Once inside the nunchuck guy is dead if the knife guy wants to kill him. He can also choose to just severe his wrist tendons so he can't attack
@taekwondotime
@taekwondotime Жыл бұрын
You made some good points, however: - A knife isn't always legal to carry (depends where you live) - A knife is compact, but its compactness means you have a very limited range. - There have been numerous examples of fights where a person got stabbed multiple times and continued to fight as if nothing had happened. (Some of those people would later die from blood loss of course, but others survived.) - It's true that you don't need any training to be dangerous with a knife. - Also keep in mind that once you're inside, that knife can get grabbed. (More specifically the arm holding it.) So you're not safe at clinch distance with a knife. You're essentially turning the fight into a grappling/wrestling match at that point where a stronger opponent can overpower you, disarm you, and potentially use your knife against you. (Better to have a knife than no knife in close, but it's not a sure thing because if you're too close to get hit by the chucks than you're close enough to get hit with kicks and punches.) The reality is that with a skilled nunchaku practitioner, a knife wielder would never be able to get close enough to strike. Even before you got struck to the head or body with the chucks, your arms would get struck. We've done weapon sparring at the club many times (with padded versions of all the weapons) and nobody could get in on the chucks without getting clobbered. @@Kanotoa
